Unable to get half life 2 weapon select icon

is there any way to get the texture for hl2 weapon spawn icons?

when i use WEAPON.WepSelectIcon it returns nill when it should return a number

when i do this for m9k weps or for the tool gun and camera it works perfectly.

but it returns nil for: grav gun, phys gun, and all the weapons from hl2.

i was unable to find this kind of issue being reported on the gmod wiki or github.

am i doing this wrong? is there another way to get a weapon's selection icon that you'd see in the weapon selection hud?

it turns out that some weapon mods (including hl2 weps) have a font that has all the icons, so for a weapon mod i just needed to find the font and right symbols at it seems to work well.
