Past banning issue

Hey,

In the past Citizenhack, a gmod cheating software offered a thing called Server Depot, which essentially allowed anyone and everyone to download any server file they wanted, a friend of mine in the past had this happen to him and in turn got banned for leaking, which till this day he doesn’t know how this is possible. Now I’m thinking on it and wouldn’t this issue be claims to a false ban for unintentional leaking as he didn’t leak it himself. This was years ago, and no this isn’t a request to unban anyone just wondering what the terms would’ve been back then when this service was being offered to everyone on the internet that visited their site

To the best of my knowledge, what they provided was nothing more than a fancy scripthook? This means that only the client files were taken. So the only way I can see him getting banned for leaking is if something like a HUD was yoinked. But even then, most (if not all) HUDs require some server side code. What exactly was leaked?

Pretty sure Owain's right.

Last time I checked, the server depot can only get client-side files. (DISCLAIMER: I DON'T OWN CITIZENHACK. I TRIED MAKING AN ANTI-CHEAT FOR IT USING MY FRIEND WHO DID HAVE IT)

But I'm not sure if that is changed. I don't have much of an insight to how citizenhack itself works because it was my buddy that was helping me try and block it.

Anyway, if your mate got his server hacked then it isn't really his fault. Plus, you kinda can't say "Oh well he should have an anti-cheat" cause citizenhack is basically impossible to block.

Im not entirely sure what was leaked as it was some time ago now, I’m sure he doesn’t even remember. I’m not 100% sure if it was from the CH server depot thing which caused the ban for leaking, again just making assumptions. Only reason I mentioned it was around the time he got banned a player from his server sent him screenshots of the server files without him having knowledge of how he got them. I was just wondering if this could’ve possibly caused the ban as the player might've used the files elsewhere but being as you two stated it’s mostly client files that’s more than unlikely

At the time he had around $400 dollars spent on scripts, just doesn’t seem like he would go out of his way to leak something, especially knowing the repercussions of doing so

I'd look into that a bit further, there was some stuff that was more then just clientside(could have been some moron putting things into a shared.lua tho but I'm unsure)
