Wanna make more $ on Scriptfodder? Listen here

You guys need to understand that scripts are should not be priced based on time & effort, for an example, if you spend 48 hours on a script that lets you get a $1000 in-game cash in DarkRP for putting 3 letters in your name, it shouldn't be $10. Yea you spent 2 days straight working on it but what the script actually does is very minimal actions. I have seen scripts on Scriptfodder that fall under the same category and then they get 5-6 sales and the developer wonders"why am I not getting anyone to buy this, I worked so hard why doesn't it pay off". It's simple math, if you lower the price of a script the more people are going to buy it, if you try to make your "money back" in the first three purchases, your gonna be waiting a long time. If you want more money than lower the price to the appropriate market value of scripts that echelon. There is a reason why VCMod and ARC Bank are one of the best sellers in Scriptfodder, the script overall if you were to post a job on Scriptfodder asking for the same specifications, easily $500-$1000 based on time and effort...and they are selling it for ~$20. Once a script is public, the value of the script automatically dwindles down because it is not "custom" anymore if everyone has it, I hope a lot of Developers see this because it really bugs me when I see scripts with genuinely good ideas but are priced at $15-$20 because they think that since they spent 8+ hours that 100 people should buy it at $15.

I understand where you're coming from on this, and I MOSTLY agree. There are a few exceptions to this (at least, I feel so).

In many cases, a person can create a visually appealing script/menu with a no where near default derma look. On this occasion, it can lead to a large amount of extra code being added for painting and creating the menu for said addon. Essentially, it is also the value of which you spent thinking up the idea, and planning how to execute it, and make it so that the person purchasing it will actually enjoy it.

It's not a 'simple math' as you said.

There aren't only pros to lowering the price and more people having the addon - there are actually 3 major cons that can literally screw up your mood:

A) You'll get more support tickets, out of which 1 out of 5 are posted by blatant idiots.

B) Higher risk it'll get leaked - and don't give me crap like: "but Neth, it's only 2$, people won't leak it" - because people even leaked my adv. blacklist that was for $0.25.

C) Higher 'chargebacks' per month ratio.

These who know me well know that I'm a filthy capitalist, so I'm okay with addons being even 1000$ per copy because market (the people) will decide if the addon sells or the guy will be damned forever and if it sells - good for him because appearently it was worth it to some people and if it doesn't - he'll have to lower the price.

I myself don't have issue pricing my addons because I listen to suggestions and release updates to most of my addons regulary to make sure the addon is worth your money - but I don't see any issue in people paying more for addons - because it's their money, why the F do you care - if they bought the addon for that specific price then they obviously decided it was worth their money - stop being a freakin' social justice warrior.

##Now onto the other part. I totally agree that some addons are highly overpriced for what they do, but hey.. if it sells, it's really none of your business - you can always talk to the dev to ask for a discount or NOT buy the addon at all.

Neth summed it right,

In the price you have to include the Tech support price, maybe the long term support, future updates, maybe increase a bit the price to pay the DRM, also increase it again to reduce sales so you have less tech support.
