Featured_Scripts
Are featured scripts ever going back to the old layout? Its been a while now in this layout. I just don't see a point to pay for advertising my script if it doesn't even get to be instantly seen on the splash page. Whole purpose of featured scripts should be to increase exposure of the script in exchange for money and you are effectively crippling that by putting 2 buttons and giving people an option to see the featured scripts. Imagine if some ad banned was not a banner but instead it was a button asking you if you wanted to see an ad banner - it would be pointless because in most cases nobody would choose to see the ad.
Since this layout started I never check out featured scripts but back when they were easily seen on top of the page I would check them because images instantly attract your attention and its a good way to know if some script had gotten a major overhaul so it could spark my interest if I saw it.
featured scripts die in gms v3
Every time I feature my script it gets some more sales than it'd usually get, so they still work.
Also I already made a thread on this https://www.gmodstore.com/community/threads/ViHgGOlaSRy3IzZZ2lZq6g
Featured scripts are much more noticeable in v3 though
I just put it back to somehow what it was before. v3 will not even have featured scripts in the same way as the current version of the site.

Looks better now, but if v3 is not coming soon would you consider moving featured scripts up a bit more? On lower resolutions you still don't see the featured scripts unless you scroll down. I think this is significant because I believe there are a lot of non-FullHD laptop users. I think that nobody here needs to be force informed that this is a website for garrys mod, for buying and selling scripts unless this person stumbled upon the site by total randomness and even then I think it would be unlikely for it to make any difference to anything. On the other hand increasing exposure of featured scripts can certainly make a difference.
Would you consider sharing some information on the topic of v3? Like when is it coming and how will featured scripts work? Sorry if this was discussed somewhere else but I cant find it.

This is what gms v3's frontpage will look like, minus the blurry/stretched header images. Those all may need to be updated manually by each author. The carousel up top is more of a "staff picks" or "hot sellers/fastest selling last x hours/days" more than anything else. The scripts below that will be random or just more minor staff picks/based on other criteria. We most likely won't be selling featured scripts updates anymore.
You shouldn't expect gms v3 any earlier or later than Q1/Early Q2 2018.
As for moving featured scripts even further up, that's something I'm not entirely sure how to do as the front page would look boring and un-interesting. You're free to come with simple suggestions as I'm not really willing to do a lot of CSS changes just for this.
I am in love with the random addons idea.
There are a lot of addons in middle of all lists which don't get noticed as often.

That is very true, giving lesser scripts a little boost would help them out a lot. However, I do also like the idea of "Staff choice", could be interesting to see staff's favorite scripts.

I agree. We all know each other pretty well, staff and majority of devs. I am not sure it's possible to be unbiased about add-on quality.

This is not how staff picks would work. They would not be based on the favourite addon of a content curator, but more so in the way of "this addon has had a considerable growth lately" or "this addon is new and looks interesting" or "this addon is simply different from most things on here". It would be as unbiased as we can possibly make it and discussed between various content curators before they're picked. They wouldn't remain there forever either and wouldn't be able to be chosen multiple times in a short amount of time.

What resolution is the banners gonna be? so i can have a template ready for my 20 scripts.
Marcuz keeps that stuff top secret. Although as I've told Marcuz many times, the new layout looks 400% better. Great things take time, so whenever.
The problem with telling you the new banner sizes already is that we are not completely certain if this is the final aspect ratio we'll keep.
