Some of my dilemmas: Need some opinions.
Question #1: Which would be the best host?
- GMChosting(I am currently using them, but continue to have issues with them) - I do have their premium package.
- Crident
Question #2: The best tick-rate for darkrp. - I want to keep the "integrity" of DarkRP.(Yes I know DarkRP is cancerous, I'm just trying my best to fix that.)
- 66 tick-rate
- 33 Tickrate(I run at 33tick /w 64 players.
- 15 tick-rate Notes: I want to run on higher player counts, but I don't want the players role-play experience to suffer.
Question #3: What is the best way to give donators/supporters perks without making them to over-powered?
- A percentage off buy-able entities?(Where buyable in-game items are cheaper)
- Unique tags? Notes: I don't want to give donators an advantage over regular players, but I also want to show them appreciation since they supported the server.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I know I may get some stupid or smart remarks, but everyone has a right to their own opinion.
I currently use Crident and I haven't had any issues with them. Their panel is simple & clean, and i highly recommend. I have never used or seen GMChosting although, so i'm a bit biased.
I really don't think this thread is necessary, there are so many and it always turns into a bitch fight.
Regardless, if you're really wanting to find out more, spend 5 minutes inside gmodstore discord - all they talk about is Crident. Hopefully that sums it up.
All honestly, you're better off giving them both a try. I'm sure if you reached out to both parties they could give you a test server for a couple of hours or at least link you to a server that is hosted with them.
Disclosure: I run Crident. GMC and Crident are both serious products - performance wise; you wont notice a difference. It seems we generally use faster drives but fuck if you'll actually notice. We are ~half the price, to top the cake.
Like Snorlak said - try both. Here is a free 24 hour trial for Crident https://crident.com/test-drive GMC, are very-much the same as Crident, but they have less features in the game panel. If you are running a top 1% server GMC does specialise in targeting that demographic - while we target the mass-market.
Who the fuck recommended 15 tickrate? 16 minimal or bullet traces really start getting funky. Ideally 22 or 33. (We default to 22) I personally run Hyplex on 16 tick.
Edited Sidenote: due to us constantly selling out - we've disabled US/CA orders on trials. You'll need to use France, Aus or UK. Apologies for this - should be all gucci by ~Feb
I've recently got myself both GMC and Crident hosting to see wich one is better, and Crident feels a lot better for me right now, I havent had any real issues with it and its a bit more user friendly.
Also forums wise if youre gonna use them, GMC uses Plesk insted of Cpanel wich is a bit weird in my opinion, I dont know I didnt really got used to it nor did i really sat down to take my time to learn it, and I dont know what kind of webhost Crident does provide, so i recommend you basic NFO servers webhost, its decent and simple for 5 bucks, and you have to be a dummy to not understand how to use it.
I have been dealing with GMC for awhile their panel has gone down twice for me and taken my server down with it. At one point in time, it took my whole server down for a Sunday. When you get some US servers in I'll definitely switch.
This happened just the other day, took all my websites down for a day.
Edit: Also thanks for sharing all of your opinions.

I dont know what kind of webhost Crident does provide
Cpanel. But don't use us. There is a reason we've been making our web hosting harder to order, removing the pages from the nav bar etc. There are loads of great web hosts already. We're trying to become the best game host we can be, and that's what we're good at.
With the panel going down - our game panel is fully redundant with 3 way failover. We're always running 2 dedi's handling ~50% of panel requests with 15 second health checks. Should either fail they'll be removed from the pool & all traffic redirected. Should both fail, traffic will be redirected to a rapidly scalable cloud infrastructure. You don't even need to re-login - it's just magic!
You shouldn't experience game panel downtime with us, other than when obviously we're rolling out updates - the panel will go down for a few seconds. This will never take your actual game server down with it, though. The panel is a totally different system to the "daemon" which actually manages the game servers. (Stopping, starting, files etc.)
Even if the daemon crashes, your game server shouldn't go down with it. It should reboot & re-detect your game server within ~1-2 seconds. It'll kindly pass the error onto our error management system to be logged & monitored. Shit - we even graph the frequency and types of errors from the various endpoints to gauge the severity. It's pretty fancy.
@drizzy Nice to see other hosts using Pterodactyl.io
