PSA for creators: PayPal policy changes

PayPal's new fee policy took effect today and that unfortunately means we have had to mirror this change with the wallet. If you refund someone the part of the transaction fee you had to pay will be deducted from your wallet. This also applies to disputes as they are seen as refunds in PayPal.

PayPal has always kept the $0.3 static fee from refunds (we covered this for you previously) but with this change they are now keeping the entire fee. Because of this we are no longer covering the fees on refund as the fees kept are no longer just $0.3 per transaction.

Here is PayPal's policy change: https://www.paypal.com/en/webapps/mpp/ua/upcoming-policies-full

This is something other gateways (i.e Stripe) have done for a while and PayPal is a bit late to the party, but it's unfortunate they came to this decision.

Sad to hear this.

Makes sense, If a buyer get's screwed over they shouldn't have to pay a fee for something that isn't their fault. Assuming that's the only reason refunds would be given in the first place. Put a sellers account in the negatives for negligence.

A buyer never paid fees for refunds, customers have always been refunded in full. This change only affects sellers.
