GmodStore Version 6.0
What? I think you've misunderstood the entire thread if you think that's the reason why there is not a payout on demand option. We want to tread lightly until we know we can handle it and it works fine. It's a mixture of PayPal not having any way of auto withdrawing money, which makes keeping the payout bank account stocked up a manual task. The only way to get PayPal automatic withdrawals is to wait 3 months after the wallet has been released so we can meet the monthly received money requirement from PayPal so that they can assign us a dedicated support representative that will be able to enable both PayPal payouts and auto-sweeping (automatic bank withdrawals) for us. There's no way to meet the requirement without launching the wallet first.
We have done all the testing we can possibly do before releasing this at this point, but anyone who has ever programmed anything at this scale knows that things that can go wrong, will go wrong. For all we know at this current moment, it might be we're going to be able to maintain a large enough buffer to avoid having to sit there and constantly monitor the account, in which case more frequencies will be opened as soon as we nail the accounting down.
I understand it's an issue for you because you did not know any of this until now, but it has been widespread information for developers for several months already at this point. Despite, we're in a situation where it's either release it now, or wait another two months before we're able to release it next. We have other projects that require our attention as well and as a company we had to make the decision to release it sooner rather than later. Pulling your stuff from the platform is not a solution to the problem, and as I mentioned above then hopefully we will be able to open multiple frequencies sooner than we thought depending on certain conditions.
Thanks so much for the search option! One of the things I hated most about the purchases page was that I couldn't view all of my add-ons in one page like we used to be able to do.
Alrighty. Let me first say that I understand you guys pretty much have to do it this way. You've already fully explained and justified the decision and I understand and support it. I think this new wallet system is a good step. Just gotta wait out the issues and we'll be all good.
However, I am slightly with 2REK on how short a warning period we've been given. Especially considering it's now (temporarily) monthly payouts. I also feel like justifying it with "It's been common knowledge" also isn't a fair excuse. It wasn't until only yesterday that Ben had told me payouts would even be scheduled locked. I personally am not in the discord, and when I was, you guys would often make minor announcements/group decisions to only discord. This makes it awkward for people like myself who are not a part of it.
We're committed now and we all know that in the long run this will be beneficial to everyone. But hey, it's a learning experience for the future.
sounds really awesome! Thanks!
We originally didn't have plans to release it so soon, ideally we would have waited a few more weeks but due to holidays in late July causing me to not be available on the 1st of August (which would be the absolute first payout date bar July 1st, if we launched in July) it would mean if something broke, only Josh would be able to deal with it but he does not have full insight into the balance of the payout account or PayPal account.
It's either release before the start of July, or in late August or early September. This is naturally a huge loss of time due to the requirements PayPal have, and when it comes to getting real actual data so we can figure out how to deal with the accounting of the wallet in the best possible way in order to unlock more payout frequencies.
If we knew earlier we would have posted an announcement farther in advance but unfortunately there's no time gap to do so. In the event that we realize a release on Wednesday and or Thursday will not work for whatever unforeseen reason then we will of course postpone it until the late August/early September time-frame I've mentioned.
Obviously this is a huge inconvenience for those of you that did not know about this, and we know Discord is not a proper means of notification about this. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause, but we have to make the switch sooner or later anyway and it's better to not be caught off-guard by PayPal suddenly pulling the plug.
The wallet defiantly sounds better for the long run, if you can get lower rates of course. Like you said things can go wrong way quicker on a large scale system so I wish you good luck and hopefully not too many things break. The other features sound great like the addon search feature. Anyways keep up the great work my guy.
Great work & update. Sure it will all work out in the end
Nice job, you guys have been working very hard. Can't wait for the exciting changes.
Luv it, gj guys :)
Great work, new features sound amazing :)
no freelancing :(
Thanks for the new update! Looks smexy!
When will freelancing be added? :(
The freelancer feature depends on the wallet, that's why it's not added in this update. The wallet has to be battle-tested first.
nice
Looks amazing can't wait!
Hmmm, Good work
I apologize if this question has been answered, but I skimmed this topic with no luck.
- How will the monthly payouts work? Will we need to request a payout once a month, or will it automatically be paid to our method of choice (ie: into my paypal like it is now), and with that, I'll still be able to have funds go into my paypal account right?
I'm totally fine with moving to a monthly payout. I kind of thought it was a little interesting that coderhire/gmodstore had a per transaction payout in the first place. If you look at stores like the Unreal Marketplace, I believe they do a monthly payout as well.
Great work! Thanks for this update.
p.s. I saw you said that developers have known this was coming for months... this is the first I've heard of this. I'm not sure how/where you put out important info to developers, but again, this is the first I've seen this and only because I saw the banner at the top of the main page.
Oh my fucking god :)
