My addons got stolen by my developer. What do I do now?

This article provides you with information in the unfortunate event that your addons are stolen by your co-owner, developer, friend, cousin or whoever you shared your addons with.

To put it simple; Your addons are your responsibility.

Every gmodstore addon comes with a LICENSE.txt file that we recommend you always read. The first part of the license agreement usually states the following:

## License Grant

2. Licensor hereby grants Licensee a Personal, Non-assignable & non-transferable,
Commercial, Royalty free, Including the rights to create but not distribute
derivative works, Non-exclusive license, all with accordance with the terms
set forth and other legal restrictions set forth in 3rd party software used
while running The Software.

3. **Limited**: licensee may use The Software for the purpose of:
a. running The Software on Licensee’s Website[s] and Server[s]; and
b. publishing The Software’s output to Licensee and 3rd Parties; and
c. modify The Software to suit Licensee’s needs and specifications;

### Non Assignable & Non-Transferable

4. Licensee may not assign or transfer his rights and duties under this
Agreement.

So in short you agree to:

  1. Not share the addon with anyone
  2. That the agreement is between you (the purchaser) and the content creator (the seller). Nobody else.

Leaks?

In the event that whoever has or had access to your addons decides to leak them, then you will be 100% responsible for it. In other words you will be permanently banned.

Very few content creators are able to revoke licenses and stop certain copies from being used (only a few with a DRM that allows this). So stopping your copy from being used/shared is not an option.

Leak threats?

If someone is threatening you that they're going to leak your addons, you should submit a site ticket with evidence. It is very important that you can prove who the person threatening you is on Steam. Having just their discord id is not enough for us to act upon it. It has to be very clear who the person is, and the threats should be very clear as well if you want us to be lenient with you.

Our rules are strict and simple when it comes to sharing addons; DO NOT. Even your best buddy online might screw you over in the end. Learn how to configure your own addons to eliminate the need to hire a "configurer" and hire people to do custom addons WITHOUT giving FTP access.
