Doing Trailer Edits for Gmod Servers. I am a novice at premiere pro
Hello! I am doing video edits, server trailers, promotional videos for Garry's mod servers. You can request me to come and record video clips at 4k, or you can send in your clips and I will make the video in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2019 for you. Price IS negotiable, usually 5 dollars per piece unless something requires me to either buy something, or requires more skill that I have to research.
Disclaimer, I am a Novice user of Premiere pro. I am uncapable of some works but I can do most stuff. If you require something that will require A LOT of professional editing (Mostly unlikey but we can have a consultation) you will need to allot me more time for your project so I can learn the skill you are requesting. Otherwise, most projects can be done within a day to a week. Depends on my and your schedule and the difficulty.
Anything on a portfolio or really anything to show?
Yeah i do have a couple animations i did but im kinda learning. Some of my edits are on my yt at Trevose Wheelie Productions
I'd recommend you put some examples of your work here and/or a link to somewhere that people can see some examples.
A lot of people will be very hesitant to pay for a service without knowing the kind of stuff you can produce.
Usually I don't complain if someone only charges $5 but... From what I can see on your YouTube Channel as of right now, $5 is overpriced.
The transitions are bad. Either a smooth linear fade or a fade to black, they never really fit.
Otherwise its a few clips thrown together in a timeline. Maybe a time reverse effect and that's about it. Something that can be done within 5 minutes.
Calling this an edit is wrong. What you lack:
- Color Correction
- Hard cuts to beat
- Camera movement (hard in premiere)
- More effects (vignette, image bounce, working with zoom, changing colors etc.)
- Proper Slow Motion (Record on 50+ fps and export the final video as 25fps allowing for smooth 50% slow motion. NOTE: On Games you might want to go with 30 or 60 fps as final export, try it out)
Also next point. Real life video production and virtual cinematography are different things. If you want to produce videos for Gmod, you need to show us some of your stuff before. A virtual camera is a different kind of camera and not an easy one.
Take a look at real edits. I recommend CS:GO ones, they are done on the same engine and have a lot of tutorials. Here's a good one:
Stuff you see here:
- Nice blur effects
- Dynamic cinematic bars
- 3D transitions
- Time warps
- Camera tilts and warps
- FOV Changes
- Smooth camera with different perspectives.
Of course the one above is made from a professional with proper 3D software. With Premiere you won't get far.
Trust me, you are currently a complete beginner, nothing more. This doesn't mean you should stop, rather the complete opposite. Go for it. Do some work, build up a portfolio, learn new skills, produce more videos. But you shouldn't charge for your work in the beginning.
Well like I said price in negotiable and I am still learning. For those videos yes they are bad, those were my first videos.
Then show us some of your other work, especially the animations.
I really only have a smooth text animation with motion blur that kinda slides onto screen then disappears after 5 seconds.
Edit: Also, I will usually do the work and put a watermark and if you don't think it's 5 dollars of work then we can negotiate. That was kinda my plan because I am still learning.
The only problem I'm seeing is that people who want professional trailers done aren't gonna hire you on the chance that you "could" make a fantastic video. They want to ensure their product in which they're paying for is top of the line for whatever server they're doing meaning that they aren't going to take a chance on someone who has minimal to basic knowledge of an animator application.
I think you could defiantly keep improving your skills and start to build up proper videos of your own within the gmod community but don't accept money because nobody is going to pay you to do a basic level job, most videos and or trailers are paid to be top of the line at least. Meaning that if you continue to work on your skills and really try to create some great products, I'm sure not doubt you'll become one of the go-to guys for trailers and such but right now its not worth trying to make any money because nobody is going to take a gamble with your lack of experience and knowledge.
You do realize we are talking about gmod servers right?
Your products are one thing but you attitude here is another.
"It doesn't matter, I'm learning"
"Price is negotiable"
"It's only gmod servers"
That alone makes most people not want to hire you.
Ok they don't have to, this is just here for a side project its not like my income. And yes, it doesn't matter I'm learning and the price IS negotiable. I appreciate your constructive critism but like you qoted, I'm learning.
Stop blocking their criticism, learn a bit more and post some updated animations or something.
From what I've seen anyone can do that, for free rather than $5. It's nothing special.
Whether or not its a side job you're not providing anything.
I am actually interested to see what you can do with $5, give me your steam friend code and we can take a deeper look together?
Thank you!
