ScriptTrack BETA is now out!
ScriptTrack is FREE for everybody while in beta!
Hey Content Creators! Are you looking for a simple and intuitive way to track the distribution and usage of your scripts? Well, you have come to the right place!
ScriptTrack is an innovative web service that provides detailed usage and statistics to developers, just like you! THIS IS NOT A DRM SERVICE! If for whatever reason ScriptTrack goes down, nothing will happen to your script (unlike ScriptEnforcer). That being said, it is easily removed from your script if the downloader knows what they are doing. You are welcome to hide it, but ScriptTrack will not go into detail on how to do this. It runs on Bootstrap, so (thank god) it won't look like it came out of the 1990s.
Types of statistics we provide include:
- Server IP Addresses
- Server Gamemodes
- Server Maps
- Licensee Information (SteamID64 of the user that downloaded your script, could be used to identify leakers)
- Last Ping Time
You can try it out for yourself by heading over to https://lumek.co/scripttrack/
If you have any comments or suggestions, please reply below.
Screenshot(s): This one is out of date. I will update it and add some more later.
Changelog:
- 7/19: A servers entry will now have a yellow background if it is considered to be inactive (no ping for 1+ days). Also improved the search function. You can now enter whatever you want into the search box and it will return any row that contains the search bar input.
- 7/18: Added logging of the server IP that sent the tracking post (PHP Detected IP) Useful for detecting proxies. Also made the "Your scripts" section of the "Add Script" tab clickable.
Roadmap (to-do list):
- Use scripthook to add ability to track who downloads your scripts
- Add cookies to save login session
"Tip! Your Script ID is a 3-4 digit number in the URL of your store page (ex. https://www.gmodstore.com/scripts/view/####/)" nuh-uh.. https://www.gmodstore.com/scripts/view/21 :3
You should also localise your functions and randomize your hook name a bit. People could simply override them for all of your script tracking without even seeing individual addon code.
Also, you could log downloads aswel using the scripthook functionality. Might be useful.
Anyway, good luck with this. ;)

Damn, 2 digits? Good for you :)
I updated the tip, localized the functions in the tracking code, and randomized the hook/function names. I never would have thought of logging downloads with the scripthook, I thought it would only be useful for DRM.
Thanks for the insight <3
Not affiliated with Dsicord Studios Ltd. or Facepunch Studios Ltd.
Edited also might wanna fix ur xss injections

Yup, was the 21st guy to upload stuff on here.
And nah, not that useful in DRM. But might be useful to backtrace some actions. You should definitely add this in.
Also, make an API for your service. Also add hooks for when your data gets updated.
Edited Also, thank you for instantly changing/adding things instead of arguing its value or failing to take in criticism.

You are welcome. Thank you for even suggesting what you did. If you hadn't, I would have just left them as is.
Also, I was going through the error logs from last night, and I forgot to define my Anti-XSS function in my post.php script. I patched that up. Sorry to whoever was expecting to find logs but was left in the dark all night. You and everyone else should be all set now :)

I've pondered this question long enough. This service will not gain you any more profit, but it will help you to mitigate any further profit loss (by means of leaking). You could even use the statistics ScriptTrack provides to anticipate customer buying habits.
For example, the script you are trying to sell is a Car Dealer addon. You can use our "Server Map" statistic and determine that a few of your customers play on the map rp_dankmeme_land_v1. But, your script's Car Dealer NPC is only automatically spawned on the maps rp_kenbone_v9000X and rp_your_moms_house. All other customers must manually place the Car Dealer NPC, including the ones playing on rp_dankmeme_land_v1. To increase the sales potential of your addon, you decided to pre-program in a spawn point for the Car Dealer NPC on rp_dankmeme_land_v1. You add this to your scripts description, and a customer comes along and reads that they do not have to set up your addon because the map they want to play on (rp_dankmeme_land_v1) is already pre-programmed in. The customer thinks, "Wow! Why would I buy that other Car Dealer addon when the one @oubliette is selling is already set-up for my map. I won't have to waste my time trying to place the NPC myself." BOOM! You just made a sale, and it was all because you were able to predict what future customers might desire in a script.
Also, if I was a content creator, I would use the Server IP statistic to join the server in which the script is running and thank the owner for purchasing it. There is nothing more valuable than being able to create a strong bond with the customer. This will also lead to more sales. Customer Service 101 can also apply in this scenario.
EDIT: Also, this service is free while in beta (while I add some more features and test for bugs).
Kind of a shame you have to relog-in every time you enter the website, to be honest. This might need to be fixed.
Also, don't only collect the IP they send you. Collect their remote_addr aswel. This is harder to fake. And I find it more useful personally.
Oh yeah, would be awesome to see the location of the server aswel.
nice ip logger

These are all good points. Thank you for bringing them up. I have added logging of the $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']. I have got to go to work, so I will work on a cookie system for logging in and a server location addition when I return.
As of now, I can tell you that I have 1 developer actively tracking their script, with a total of 3 tracked servers.

Perhaps a sticky footer and header would be nice? Or perhaps removing the left/right padding on the header and footer, it seems a bit odd (could just be me). Note that if you do sticky the footer, fit it to the bottom of the page.
Ill be giving your system a test run with my event addon :D
Looks great, done a goob job and it saves me having to make something similar for myself ahaha
