Tips on script submitting.
#Intro Hello fellow developers and soon-to-be developers - in this very thread I'll provide you with many tips regarding script submission and selling in general.
Every tip might make your submission more succesful and easier for moderators to go through upon approval, so let's start.
##Submitting
1. Don't bother moderators, wait patiently
First major thing I would like to mention is that (believe it or not) all moderators are humans and just like any of us they have stuff to attend to and a "system" they'll use during script reviewing - adding moderators, sending them private messages or bugging them in any other way can only drop you on the bottom of the queue, so that's the first tip.
2. If you are submitting a loading screen or a multiplatform (gmod client + web) addon - you'll have to wait longer
There are certain moderators that don't do anything else besides Lua if it comes to GMod - not all moderators are fluent in PHP, HTML, jQuery et cetera - so keep in mind that some moderators might skip your submission if they aren't able to review them appropriately .
3. Submit it in a way, that you won't have to edit it later
When submitting a script - write an extensive description, upload as many pictures (and as detailed) of your addon as possible - if you follow these steps, moderator won't have any doubts that you've put effort into your submission and won't deny it due to 'lack of description/indescriptive'
4. Write proper code
This is probably the most important tip - do NOT submit anything that is half-assed.
Moderators are quite keen if it comes to spotting bits that are inefficient resource-wise and if you submit atleast one script that has such a bit in it - your next submissions might take longer to get approved because moderator will have to take necessary precautions before allowing your script through.
5. Last, but not least - gain reputation (not the rep points)
If you have atleast one submission, a succesful one in addition - your next submissions will take way less to get approved.
##Gaining sales, positive reviews and recognition Approach in this will vary from person to person, but generally this was succesful for me
1. Softcode your addons
Softcoding (as seen here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softcoding ) is a technique in which you refrain from using values and use variables, functions and tables instead.
Doing so makes debugging, fixing and updating way easier and code more efficient (if written properly).
If you do so, you'll make your life easier and if you are a perfectionist like me, you'll be getting weird joy from expanding addons that are softcoded.
2. Have a ticket answering schedule
Answering tickets regulary will make your life easier - instead of having to answer 30 tickets at once, you'll have around 2-3 of them a day and sometimes none - thanks to that you'll be able to take a day off.
In addition answering tickets swiftly and fixing errors quickly works in your favour, despite the error being there in the first place.
3. Listen to suggestions
Most suggestions are silly - but nonetheless if you have a little of free time, you can consider fulfilling the suggestion - either for money or for free as an update.
4. Price your addons appropriately
Consider the fact that if a feature took you 60 minutes to make - someone more experienced could get it done in 5 minutes, regardless of that the price should be based on how many features it has in total rather than of how long it took to make.
5. Update your addon frequently
If you aren't planning a release of v2 of your addon - keep updating it, while subsequently increasing the price with every new feature.
If your customers get to know your system, they'll prefer buying your addon early before the price increases and if they do, they get updates for free (call it an early bird perk heh).
#Outro Well, that's all I have - I might add more tips later if I come up with them - I've followed these tips since day 1 and I'm quite happy with the results - just remember that not all of these tips will work for everyone, I hope it's obvious.
Should add a note that making actual Unique addons will not only get you more sales but less shit from people.
can i upload a addon without delevober sub so i can buy it after the addon has aproved? :) (srry for bad english) ^^
Yes
Ok Thx ^^
Beautiful tip for anyone submitting a script...
If denied, resubmitting it without changing anything does NOT improve your chances, and will probably get you banned from script submission.
Resubmitting with changes does'nt seem to improve the process of getting approved. I've started these minutes the third try to bring my first script here up online.
First time it was denied with those simple reasons: No Media | MS Paint Banner I understood here I missed the part of showing basics of the working script, which i added then.
To explain what i want to submit: It's an RUST Experimental OxideMod based server plugin, which works only in the backend.
This way i've added screens of the plugin interaction within the server console. On the end, there's nothing more to show, because its a backend plugin with no visual presence. I've changed also a bit the banner, wtih no real intention what is meant with MS Paint, because it was not made with MS Paint.
After the second shot, it was again denied, but now with those reasons: Poor description | Non-relevant media | MS Paint Banner
My description was maybe a bit short, but i did already include in the footer of the description a link to the complete full manual. That includes all info about the plugin functions and explains the complete configuation part.
Is it really needed to copy my whole text from the pdf and do the complete formatting with this basic description editor? I did now for the third try add the second page from my pdf-manual linked to the description. I did also choose an appropriate image for the script, which shows some containers from with the game, which are changed by the plugin.
My remaining problem will be the part of "Non-relevant media". I can't provide more media as already is included by script page, because it's already all the relevant media, and nothing else.
If this try gets also denied I will give up this and search another more situable platform, as it seems it might only result in a waste of time on both sides trying to get something approved what maybe does not met the criteria of the site and/or my anonymous content curator. I've read before all relevant help-pages, and i believe that i do met the criteria of submitting a script. I'd also appreciate it if someone could lead me to success, if its anyway possible to get approved with such kind of script.
Kind Regards from Germany
This is a Garry's Mod marketplace not a Rust marketplace.
hmmm

As your answer to this was not is any kind helpful in this thread and my content was not denied of the reason "not being Garry's Mod content", i got a a question to you: Did you ever read this page, or when did you read it last? >> Selling Scripts
There you find nothing related to Garry's Mod. This is mainly a script selling platform, and thats what i need. I got already an audience for such/my content, What i need is simply a stable and ease to use platform to publish this stuff.
Literally go to the front page, are you blind or what?? It says Garry's Mod marketplace.
Even if it got accepted 99% of people wouldnt buy it as they don't give a fuck about Rust scripts

99% percent of RUST-server owners are'nt my audience, so you're absolute right. But, and here comes the fault in your mindset: I got already that 1 percent that produces the 99% income i need.
You might feel that you're right stuffed with your scripts on your low end, but good RUST plugin coders get 30$ for their plugins, and that for good stuff a few times a day at initial release. I dont have any experience with Garry's Mod, but i can't agree with your kind of rude pronunciation to give a FUCK on rust.
Your vernacular might be funny for your friends, but acting like you are doing it in a public way shows a missing intellectual power which is needed to code some more deeper functions then you did until now.
And maybe you drive fine with this, but i give you a hint for your later life: You should maybe review twice content you publish in a forum to take yourself seriously.
My two cents on it...
That's not what I fucking mean wtf.
99% of people here doesn't own a Rust server, so you're probably reaching 0.01% people on here saying that 1% of Rust owners are your audience. All you'd do is flood the marketplace with scripts people here aren't interested in.
Also lmao it's Rust not RUST, it's not a fucking acronym.

With audience i meant not this site. It's a on its main a B2C platform, thats what i need. Nothing else. Search the meaning on google, sounds really like you don't know this abbreviation, as you're are acting like on the playground on your schoolyard. And repeating the "F"-word also approves finally my previously mentioned miss of the right "intellectual power".
What's wrong with using the "F"-word? Its the fucking internet, nobody cares.
"It's a on its main a B2C platform" it is, but its a B2C platform for Garry's Mod not Rust. Nobody here cares about your Rust mod, go find a Rust mod selling website or if there's none create your own if you absolutely want to sell Rust plugins
All things considered a rust mod section would be cool and would get a wider audience to ScriptFodder, maybe they'd even play gmod again after seeing our current scripts
Edit: I say 'again' assuming they left gmod for rust, if they don't own gmod then maybe sf will get them into it
