I think you need to work on your design portfolio a bit more before you put it as something you want people to pay for.

I think he means that your portfolio isn't professional/good enough to serve as an example of what people are going to be paying for. I don't think it's bad, it does show off your art. But if you are a graphic designer, it calls into question why your site is so boring with just a gray background.
