As long as the community is the same name if I'm not correct.

Let me make this easy.
You can use them in your community. You can use them on your friends server. As long as you aren't passing them out to everyone you know chances are it's fine.
But if they are leaked, and it points back to you - you're responsible. It doesn't matter what the story is, friend, developer, family - it's on you.
Now like I said before you can always appeal, and if the security issue is fixed, or you make it damn well clear you understand not to share your scripts again, and show you are remedying the issue - we are always welcome to unbans.
Make sense?
I'm dead inside. kek. And love VCMod Main.

Noted down a link to this comment for the "goto perfect quote" for situations like these. Nicely put.

That was random, but thank you.

I think this is a goofy question.
I remember asking this exact question in the similiar thread and got an answer that steam id is stored as some extra hard encrypted code. Well, if the code'd be unencrypted, responsibilities still on developers. I understand gmodstore don't have abilities to make some sort of license keys system like steam did for css, but some coders (like Billy or Nordahl) use DRM that's less intrusive than SE was but still somewhat protects the code with licenses. If the community suffers 'leak' problem for years, why not to implement common license protection system like mentioned above?

gmodstore does offer a way for developers to hide the user of who downloaded the script from the store inside files, it's upto the developer to make use of these options in finding leakers of their scripts.

Not only that, some fancy shmancy things are hidden in some of the binary files in order to track the downloader
I've never got that one to work right when I tested it.

Give or take yeah, your server your responsibility if someone is hijacking your shit in the first place you obviously need a step-up in security for your own personal use.aka don't use the same password for every account
Well actually in today's day and age, it's almost impossible to protect against a hijack. Unless you know your security well enough, and Gmod Server owners shouldn't have to know about security just to host a server anyway. If you have client side scripts enabled, and they do it that way, that's understandable. But even if you're hijacked in a way that's not 100% able to stop, regardless of a password (unless you got a password like 123), it shouldn't be the Server Owners fault.

The chances of being hijacked with a really good password, especially in a garry's mod community is 1 in 1 billion. No one is going to pour so much man hours into getting someone banned from a gmodstore site, and if they are, they definitely don't know what they're doing, so they won't get far.
I feel like this can be easily abused. This makes sense for users who share scripts, however what if you're falsely accused? You could say that they can appeal, but how would they even prove that they have absolutely no idea who the person is? Steam doesn't necessarily have logs, and of course, the leaker isn't going to confess. What can you do in this situation?

Look at it from our perspective.
In my example, I get around 2-5 new leaks a week. 90% of the time the excuse will be that "I gave to a friend" or "I gave to a coowner" and "he leaked it" or simply "I don't know". But uppon some digging, around 60% of those times I do find that the buyer himself shared it or leaked it on purpose. This is after days of digging around.
I've only had one maybe two verified server breaches where addons got stolen, even then it was due to crappy FTP password or what not. After an appeal, they got unbanned and I've whitelisted their servers, issue solved.
Point is, it is either impossible or takes close to a week to fully sort it out, assuming you have some remote logging and statistics (which most do not). Most of the time its impossible and we simply have to trust that the buyer did not share it with random people.
Even yesterday I had a report of user giving out VCMod ELS to random people on a server, turns out, person who is distributing is friend of a friend of a mutual friend of the buyer. Majority of the time its the buyers fault in one way or the other and the rest is simply impossible to verify.
Majority of people do not have protection and each leak can potentially cost them hundreds of dollars in the long run. It is the buyers responsibility to secure his purchased content, not ours. Chances of someone "stealing" addons is close to nothing (friend taking it does not count) and yet its 90% of the excuses. And its absolutely impossible to verify any of what the buyer claims for majority of buyers, they simply have to take their word for it. Even tho the evidense shows it being the buyers fault.
just a theory but why not start requiring addons use an activation code that is unique to ever purchase? even if the script is leaked you could make it where its useless unless they know the key. it wouldn't do much for preventing leaks but could help make it a bit pointless if the addon won't work for them

So, a basic DRM?
Issue is not that.. Issue is figuring out who is to blame here. Which is the buyer, in most cases.
if thats what its called then yeah pretty much.
The moderators on gmodstore have a ton of tools to determine if you're telling the truth or not, I won't spill them (for the sake of it staying private-ish) but most people already know them, not to mention developers have a ton of string replacements in play so it's definitely not easy to just switch up a couple of IDs and then frame someone. Then you got factors such as: If the framer makes the mistake of framing someone on an addon they don't own, it'll pretty much tell the moderators (in common sense) that they're being targeted.
Anything can be abused most definitely but it's very rare if someone (especially your average gmod leaker) can match all the patterns right to get the wrong person in-trouble. Just don't worry about it, this rule is for careless detard retards who give anyone their ftp information or have untrustworthy staff. If you know your staff (co-owner, whatever) is trust-able and you don't give everyone your ftp, you'll be fine.

Well, obviously the sellers don't want to take responsibility and would rather put it on buyer's shoulder, common low-market practice after all, but the point is that if we get sort of license system that would simply auto-ban abused license code (say, 3 activations at max per licensse, or you'll have to buy additional licenses for your other servers, but cheapier), it would solve problems of putting fair buyers & evil leakers into the same folder. Let's face it: right now the system works due to sheer luck and if it's (luck) expired - you'll get kicked. I want to share my own problem: I've got a HUD from gmodstore 'battlefield 1' which it's author left unsupported and there's even a big sign 'find yourself a developer who will fix it for you', I use this HUD and would like some tweaks which I could get from the 'jobs' section of gmodstore. Now, how would it be done: if I give the coder this HUD would it be a leak? If I go further and gift that HUD to the coder, and they'll done it on their own copy, how do they send fixed files? There would be either mine or their (coder's) signature, so we'll have to trust each other not to leak, and that's about this thread. I think I can come up with more examples in which placing the responsibility either on the buyer or the seller would seem unfair. Therefore there is 3rd party solution needed.

If he takes your addons and leaves your "community" you'll be banned.
Thats crazy and a massive overreach. Most servers have Co Owners especially larger ones. You cannot help if someone steals your addons. My recommendation is start implementing a whitelist for any addons on gmodstore. Its also easy for someone to steal addons via just joining a server. Ive spent tons of money here because of the content creators provide here. Lets not be quick to hit the ban button and help us resolve issues. Thank God no one has stolen my addons i would hate to be banned for it......
