Hey all, i've decided to start learning and hopefully try to make a mobile phone game, for android os of course. I have no real experience and i've never done something like this before, but i would like try to learn the basics and possibly even more then that.

I would like to hear others if they have any advices as what game engine to use, where to start or even if they done it before.

Learn java first (very basic overview). Greenfoot.org is a good, free, and interactive way to learn the basics.

Im sure UE4 and Unity have options that allow you to export into mobile phones. If its a 3d game your after, then I'd advise using one of those programs

I've already installed Unity and it seems pretty interesting considering i don't really know what to do ( Becasue i've never done anything like this ). I would first start with something simple in 2d and probably make it into something bigger eventually. Also, anyone tried to make or even have their mobile game on store? I'm rather curious about that.

All I know about the Apple Store is, it's $100 per month, and you need a mac to publish I think?

You can develop for free and you can use a Hackintosh if you want to.

To publish an app it's $99 a year, or $8.25 a month (but you can only pay yearly for some reason).

For Android, you pay a one-time $25 fee. This is a lot more friendlier to developers than Apple. Fuck Apple for not supporting XCode for Windows and not letting people pay monthly.

It still amazes me what kind of money you can make by making mobile games, i have read somewhere that the creator of the infamous Flappy Bird made 10k a week ( Not sure if that is true or not ).

well he got lucky and for some reason it became a massive fad, there's probably loads of good games out there that aren't going to make that much money. flappy bird wasn't even a very unique game for the amount of money he made.

it's kind of stupid how he took it down because people got addicted to it/he didn't want to make that much money. why didn't he just remove ads smh

Its a bit skecty regarding the money, i don't there is anyone who would go '' Oh i don't want earn too much money ''. He removed the game due the reasons of it being too adictive according to google, which is the main factor of most of the games.

Just learn C# and use Xamarin. C# has way too many advantages over all the aforementioned solutions.

Write a game on Monogame using C# and it'll work on Android, Linux, Windows, iOS etc. without any need to port for other devices - and if you get tired of making mobile apps, you can use your C# experience to develop a game on Unity, Unreal Engine or really any other engine.
