How to get active players?
Hey there, So I'm seeking help. I made a Deathrun server with cool addons such as Vapes & Knifes etc. I have limited it to 20 Maps and they're all added to FastDL so once you have that long wait then you're good to go and only take 10 seconds if that there after, However I struggle to find decent players. Here's an example: Somedays we could get 10 Players then the next 0. I have no clue how to get my server out there to populate it if that make sense.

I don't really think anyone has the right answer to this question. It's completely up to chance and randomness. Take Threebow for example, a while ago he released a pretty much completely custom server and saw hardly any growth, yet "gmodstore servers" are released every day and exceed player-counts most people here wish they could reach half of. I really believe (that in the start) it's completely down to luck.
The owner is the key. I often find servers lacking socially skills, or know how to be around people in general, or being to protective/passive aggressive. If you act like a god in your own selfsmug, the players will hate it and leave. You gotta remember, your majority of players is kids, kids who hate their father and mom, kids that goes through a life off confusion, anger, silly problems that are huge for them. They want to be seen, given a fair chance which some communities never does. When you was a kid, you just wanted to be taken serious around groups, we humans thrive for acceptances and if you as server owner don't see it, that role might not be fit for you. Its all about the human brain, how good you are to see other people, but also if you can notice your own refection when it matters.
My overall tip is to have fun, dont be to serious about having the "perfect" well put together server with no server errors, just put shit in, create silly jobs, do silly things and have fun and make players feel noticed. Reach out to them before they do, that creates the bond even stronger.
