How can we help you

We run a weekly stream which is starting to get to the point where we need to focus on content. Currently some ideas we've got are listed below, but I want to know what people might find useful.

  1. ULX Lessons?
  2. Lua basics/lessons (or understanding how to configure addons?)
  3. Server setup & hosting tips
  4. Giveaways
  5. Security tips & advice? (Preventing leaks, backdoor related info/help?)
  6. Top 5 addons – gmodstore addon review segment

If you're a content consumer, please post any ideas you might have, or more importantly; what you want us to make content about. This could be issues you've had trouble solving before, or anything you think other people or yourself might find useful or entertaining at some point.

If you're a content creator - post ideas which might make your life easier. Get common issues or questions in tickets? Let us cover it in a stream & provide a cut version to easily link to customers & save you time in the future.

I don't expect much, but thanks for any ideas <3

I think security is a major thing, making users of services understand what people can do with certain information, I've seen people freak over others screwing their ULX and them not even knowing how to reset it, Just some lessons on steps to take for security and ensuring breaches don't happen. Not sure how much sense this made but i think it's a general thing, i'll take the chance to say thanks for your services and again demonstrating why crident is one of (if not THE) best for Gmod solutions.

I'd love to see a section on backing up your server data and sv.db and why you'd want to do that, also a section on ftp logs, where and how to get them.

On top of that, you should also talk about being careful when copying sv.db. Only get the data you need from it into the new one because people can have sv.db with bad data.

Could you post the link to your stream somewhere? Would love to grab a lesson or 2 :)

For security, we should teach people how to judge an addon. What I mean is basically, how to tell if an addon is legit. Maybe simple things like simply looking at how many subscribers and subscriptions workshop addons are in before adding them to your server. This little check can prevent a lot of shit like backdoors and shitty code causing lag.

Our backup system removes the un-needed files to cut the size down for you, so this isn't really relevant for a crident stream

I've been thinking about stuff like this - I just need to work out a nice way to package it

Currently there isn't actually a way for users to get (S)FTP logs normally on TCAdmin, or Dino - however we do have them planned :(

We've got backups covered though enter image description here
