My opinion about pointshop 2

I seriously don't even want to review this addon because its an excellent script and very useful. But the real problem is....there's so many ****ing issues with it that i'm gonna rip off my hair.

Starting with mysql errors [correctly connected, to get my loadout back, making tickets and still no response, i even did long time ago but never have been helped] Unboxing being broken. Adding hats being also broken. Support being excellent even if i heard Kamshak hired support people. I have to tell this ticket support thing still sucks, at least TRAnders did frequently help people.

You guys can call me dumb or something but i wanna know whats your opinion about Pointshop 2 support. [I have ultimate version.]

Edited Looks like i already did. back in that time i was kinder...

Review it again, if you need help because the addon is not working and not getting the help you need, review it. If he still ignores you, report him.

Edit : looks like he's updating it really frequently so i guess he's active, just poke him again

Been doing a lot of updates recently - lots of performance and stability improvements. Current plan is to make sure that all the little quirks are resolved. There are a lot of possible configurations and the differences between mysql and sqlite are quite significant. A lot has been done to help everyone solve issues themselves (the script now detects most misconfiguration and provides a clear path to solution, detects installation errors, outdated mysqloo and similar). Still not perfect but you can be certain that all issues are being worked on. That said it is quite stable and does work very well most of the time.

I have some plans for quicker support as well :)

BTW: Doing another update this week, if you have tickets open please check if the have all of the information to reproduce the issue. That way I can include fixes in the update.

I am probably going to bypass Pointshop 2 in future because you never know when its gonna explode and corrupt your entire item database that you worked so hard to populate(happend to me 2 times in the past). No offence Kamshak but you been fixing it for 3 years now, I doubt it will ever be truly stable.

If you want those hats and a peace of mind then your best bet is Pointshop 1 and some lua knowledge.

Hmm not sure what you mean - the only issue with data loss was the update 2 weeks ago where an SQLite part removed equipped items. Other than that haven't had any reports of any data corruption. (btw if you check your data folder you might find some exports - the shop creates a item/category backup before a "Repair Database").

If your underlying database gets corrupted (this can happen to sv.db for example on a disk error) there is nothing the script can do. It's best practice to back it up frequently. Given the issue above i'm working on a feature to manage and automate backups in game.

Stability is priority #1 and lots has been improved over the last weeks in terms of both, stability and performance. It's a big script and people keep pushing it to it's limits much harder than pointshop1 so there'll be updates addressing that for some time (which I believe is a good thing!).
