How hard is Python to learn?
Byroastchickenat 30th of June 2016 21:31:38
And I don't see a situation in which I would need C#, but I don't write it off as useless.Because, as Footsie pointed out, Python is used in many applications.
C# is more common than Python is by far.

Wtf this type of chart actually exists? Damn
It's most definitely faked, plus even if it was real you'd have to get statistics from EVERYTHING people have made.
Most development jobs I've looked at look for C#, and .NET.

Yes but you're forgetting those are github repo's I'm talking about all in general. I have a script starred on my github and it uses Python but in general C# is used heavily more than Python.
Plus the subject would be based around what pyro would make which would be in the Steam/game type category which is covered heavily by C# or the C series in general

I doubt il be using python to make anything else aside from my 3d programs plugins since that is what I have to learn python for. Industry requires you to at least understand python since most employers want someone who knows a bit of both worlds. In my case it would be 3D modelling and coding. IMO its the two most valued subjects when it comes to creating things digitally. But otherwise I wouldn't really say Python is useless. Each language serves it's own purpose

Sorry if I trust actual statistics more than "yes, but I know that C# is more used". You're free to post whatever graphs/articles that actually prove your claim.
Luna, please google "most used programming languages". The top five results that I looked at all placed Python on top of C#.
As Hobbes said, lets see some proof.

You're forgetting the category of what it's going to be used in which was the reason pyro started this thread.
It's Modelling/Steam/game category which is most influenced by C# I'm not gonna look up every single C# project just to prove a point to you.
Not to forget the whole C series. Plus people learn it cause it's easier not more used than C#, you don't see every game creator or website creator putting their stuff on github, take steam for example.
Where the fuck are you getting "Steam/game category"? Pyro said he was going to use Python to make a script for a 3D modeling program.
Obviously Python isn't used extensively in game development; that doesn't mean it's "useless" or that C# is used more than it. Game development is only one field out of many.

First of all, learn to read I specified his possible categories (modelling, steam, games).
I never said Python was useless my argument is that it's not used more than the C series.
They're not even possible categories.

As for it not being used more than C#: Multiple people have come up with proof that Python is used more than C#. You have come up with no proof.

https://github.com/ValveSoftware here's a snippet of what valve uses. Valves main language is in the C series. Trade bots are made heavily in C#, and tons of games/modelling softwares are made from C, just check the steam store.
Luna, that doesn't dispute the fact that Python is used more than anything C related.
I've found most companies look for .NET, which includes C#, experience when hiring. I have yet in my company seen any of the other developers use Python.
Now is that to say it has no place in a professional atmosphere? No, but that doesn't mean you can just say "well look at this main company that doesn't use Python, that means Python is not used as much!"
IMO every language has its strong suites.
.NET Framework (C, C++, C#) is for real work, Python is for hipster startups.
All i wanted was a few, simple unbiased answers. This thread has gone downhill and I didn't want drama fodder to start up :(
