[Important] Job Practices / Avoiding Scammers

#41

Can you check this user? I just accepted his application a few days ago and I'm skeptical of his account I didnt see this article until after https://www.gmodstore.com/users/76561198880412871

Puppycheese123 Seems highly suspicious:

  1. New account
  2. No purchases
  3. 1 Steam friend

-> Rather avoid him

can I back out of the deal still since I accepted him but he hasn't been responding?

Smart Like My Shoe is a very reputable developer, many competent devs that you've never talked to before for will ask for a downpayment (for the first job at least, to make sure you aren't wasting his time).

Ptilly If that's the Smart Like My Shoe I'm thinking of, he's pretty well known and has some decent addons.

Him asking for a down payment seems warranted and it's smart of him to ask. Gmodstore is fine with that practice as well, they're just not for people maliciously asking for a down payment with no intention of completing the job.

Also, in the case of you accepting an offer from another developer, even if they do work at trying to improve FPS and they aren't successful - you should still pay them for their time. Time isn't something you can just return.
