Can we get more privacy options?
It would be cool if we can hide our jobs that we created or our entire profile.
jobs that are shown on your profile arent done, wouldn't you like more people to see them so you have higher exposure to potential applicants?
Even tho this is correct I feel like more privacy options would not hurt.
The ability to hide your purchases for example, I guess a lot of people (doesn't really include me) would like to hide that.
Some of this information needs to be shown for security purposes. And most of that information is only accessible by Content Creators+.
This isn't facebook
Purchases are only shown to content creators - this is because usually they need to know this sort of information due to leaks etc. There's no harm in knowing what you've purchased, it doesn't even tell you if it's an actual purchase or manually assigned unless you're the author of said addon
I would absolutely love the ability to hide paypal information for content creators from buyers (not gmodstore admins), but I don't think it's possible :(
I don't think we can see any of that unless you actually pay us and at that point it's important for disputes etc
We don't even store your real name, the only thing we store is email address and transaction ID
I in the other hand love the transparency on gmodstore. I want to see peoples history/information to judge whether they are trustworthy or not. Which is important for an 'open market' website.

It would be too easy for server's enemies to gather irl information of it's headadmin by buying their scripts for average price of $5. Therefore it's either I'm working for a server OR making&selling scripts, never both at the same time. Imo, products could be better if developer knew exactly what market needs, made for and tested on real servers. Afaik it's the way paypal works: showing your full contacts to buyer/seller. So the only way would be to make sort of in-gmodstore money storage system, so the money would flow inside the system and could be taken out from the system, without revealing any data. I noticed 'wallet' tab in my profile which says it's still in development. ?
Make a new pay-pal account strictly for gmodstore, problem solved?
A wallet system will probably never happen. There are far too many problems with such a system for a small marketplace for a small company like GmodStore:
- PayPal could lock our account at any time for whatever reason they please, which would in turn screw over all content creators at GmodStore
- Double fees, the initial transaction between the buyer and us would have a fee, and so would the transaction between us and the seller when they withdraw. Although this decreases by the amount of money they withdraw at a time
- Chargebacks; We would receive ALL chargebacks that happen towards our account, which creates an issue like this: if chargebacks happen at a point where most developers have withdrawn their money, let's say it happens at an interval every month configurable by the developer, and everyone chooses to withdraw at the end of the month because it makes sense for taxes - if someone chargebacks at this time that means we'd be paying money we don't have towards the chargeback fee as well as the price of the addon, this would eat from the VAT, or simply cause us to go into negative, meaning we can't pay developers who might have had a little bit of money in their wallet. This would cause us to potentially have to cover fees and VAT with commissions because chargebacks eat it up.
- If the above happens, who's to say PayPal won't just see the massive amount of chargebacks and decide to lock our account, which would have the same outcome as #1
And yes, I'm aware #3 could be solved by pushing it to the developer by deducting it from their wallet, but that doesn't magically spawn money we don't have and potentially won't get.
- Doesn't paypal force you to have only one account?
- Anyway, paypal demand to verify personal information, so no anonymous pp -> meaningless
Am I missing something here?..
Marcuz, to solve this you'd have to act as a bank: deposit huge amount of money into the system which you won't be able to have access to. That would work if, like a bank, you'll be able to farm money through transactions & investitions & use stored money to make more money. Which doesn't prevent PP from blocking your account anyway. For this, I suspect, you'd be better using some other gate which doesn't store money on the pp acc, but transfer needed amounts only during the actual transaction. Which would increase commissions. Removable amounts should be scaled to 5 (starting from, say, $5), certain minimum cannot be removed / adds virtual bonus points (different strategies - same result), tons of techniques. Amount of work this complex would require probably surpass gmodstorev3 from the beginning.
