What is the best Lua IDE in 2019?

Which Lua IDE available now do you think is the best? What features does it have that make it the best?

I’m currently using Notepad++ and Atom, but I am not completely satisfied with either of them.

These two in combo are great.

What are the benefits in comparison to something like Sublime?

Trying to decide if it's worth the switch.

freemmaann You can install a gLua syntax thingy

The glua vs code helper isn't the best imo. It's buggy in terms of auto filling methods and when changing methods, it'll just insert a new method with its args.

The other annoying thing is the the args because it includes the data type of that arg which slows you down cause you have to go back and delete that. So for example when it autofills SetPos on a panel, you'll get.

PANEL:SetPos(number posX, number posY)

Which is annoying. I honestly don't know if it's a vs code thing in general or specific to the add-on.

I use Atom. Not alot of people like it from what i know but so far i've not had any problems with it at all.

I mainly use Atom myself due to being used to the Syntax highlighting after many years, but Atom is plagued with slow load times, very barebones IDE, and missing a lot of stuff to make it match VS Code out of the box for beginners.

I use Sublime. Always have and probably will for a while. Like Beast I've just settled in to it and edited/themed it to my exact liking. I tried VSCode for a short period but ended up making the switch back. Just wasn't "vibing" with it.

I'm not as good as the previous developers that gived their arguments but, to me, the best IDE is by far Sublime.

I also tried Atom, and the only thing that I loved was the Git / Github feature : you can manage your Repositery directly from your IDE.

Visual studio code is by far the best I've used. I used sublime for 2 years before switching, and I'm not going back :D

I used to use Sublime. Haven't looked back since switching to VSC. All the plugins (easily installable) make it already miles better than Sublime. Not including workspaces and built in git

If you honestly really wanted a real IDE, you could really use any intellij IDE (https://www.jetbrains.com/) with a simple lua syntax plugin, obviously it's not geared for glua but it'd definitely get the job done

I've had a lot of issues with IDEA and the Lua plugin, even without writing GLua it still errored and gave syntax errors for correct code. Honestly I'd recommend just going with VS Code.
