Any tips how NOT to be scammed

Hello,

I already did like 4 jobs. Guess how many times I've been scammed. Yeah. 4 times.

Can someone tell me some tipps and tricks?

What I already tried:

  1. Trust him because he seems trustful and legit (Like his Steam profile)
  2. Did 80% of the work, sended it to him and asked him to pay so I can give him the rest

Thanks!

When I do jobs I do it, then either screenshare via Skype or some other way. Maybe send Screenshots of it working (no code shown) and wait for payment. If they pay, great! Send them the work, if not then just walk away if they're gonna be dodgy about it

I always host a simple dedicated server. Payment first, then they get their addon.

I once got scammed by a guy saying my code didn't work even through it worked perfectly on my server. Not like it was gamemode depending or anything.

It's pretty random tbh and better paid jobs seem to me to be the most trustworthy. Remember screenshots of shit so you can report them if they scam you too.

sended it to him

Don't.

Record a video showing him it works.

Broadcast on steam.

Even better, the person can jump on a test server or you host a server from singleplayer and let him join. He can test it there and then, and then he can pay you before you send it to him.

Sometimes I make them send 60% payment first then I will send the product and then they send the other 40%

Yes, just one - stop being stupid.

You really have to try hard to get scammed - just don't pay before the addon is done, don't pay before you check it throughly and keep logs.

Sometimes the problem is: For example one guy wanted me to configure his cardealer (add the vehicles)... But if I don't own the addon, then I wouldn't be able to show it to him... What could I do there?
