Hello there, I'm making this thread just to clarify something. Is it possible for me to legally create my own SantosRP server? I've been reading other threads from this website saying that leaked versions are illegal, it is very hard to get the gamemode altogether, etc. I've tried contacting the creator through the MazeRP website, and have already created a list of rules and things that I need to create the server. I figure I'm jumping the gun, but I've gotten this far, and I don't want to give up already.

I'm pretty sure SantosRP is a trademark that applies to them only, but the actual idea of seriousRP isn't - so you can make a clone completely fine, just don't call it SantosRP and you're good

Could I find the staff of santosRP and be able to talk to them about this? I'm still open to responses from this thread, but maybe you could help me find a developer of the gamemode?

Trying to trademark SantosRP got them in trouble with Take-Two Interactive if I remember correctly. So they don't own the trademark.

You're asking if you can host someone else's leaked gamemode without their explicit permission, legally. Do you really need to create your own thread to put 2 and 2 together?
But in reality, it's garry's mod so no one actually gives a shit, just be sure the leaked gamemode doesn't contain 1000 backdoors ;)
ZERO SUGAR is exactly right here. Though I don't advise using a leaked gamemode including the blackdoor reason, how about you spice up your server instead of using every same script another gamemode has. Legit every other cancerous gmod community is using that gamemode right now.

Leaks are bad but if you make it yourself it's not piracy
If you use the gamemode and become successful and promoted over the web etc expect to start getting legal documents from Rockstar/Take2 as the original owners did.

Nothing says that we can't stop you from making another server. But we got a wake up call from TakeTwo Interactive, when they went full lawsuit mode
Make your own gamemode from scratch. Another side-note, I spoke to the owner of SantosRP some time ago, and he does not want anything SantosRP related on this site since it's from a leaked copy of the gamemode, so if you're going to do anything related to finding developers / posting jobs, etc, It cannot be for the SantosRP gamemode itself otherwise it gets deleted.
