This is a Rant
DISCLAIMER: PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS PERSONALLY. I just needed to talk about this, because it has been bugging me recently. Also, I am not going to be naming any scripts and or devs, because I am not going to shame them, as If they were able to get onto SF and have their Script approved, It must be pretty good
Ok, so a month maybe ago, I submitted a Script. It got denied originally, and I reviewed the Script and Fully Understood why, and began more work on it.
I then Later posted it again (A lot more custom css, js, etc) and Got denied again for it being a 5 second script.
Now I have looked at the FAQ (or whatever it's called) and it says this:
The denial reason "5 seconds script" basically means that your script is too simple. It doesn't literally mean that we believe that you have only put very little time into the script, but it means that we find the script way too simple for the site.
Ok, fair enough, the script wasn't the most complex of things, but recently a Script was released that honestly looked like someone had just gone onto http://www.w3schools.com/ and put together a few web pages, and published it.
Again, I'm not In anyway Trying to Criticize the Dev of the Script, and nor am I trying to blame the Admins/Mods on here(If it got approved, It must be good enough in one of the Dev's eyes). I just feel that rather than being Told it's a 5 second script, be given why it failed and any suggestions to potentially get a Place on the site.
I know it's tough competition on the Site, but I just needed to let this out somewhere.
Again, please don't take this personally anyone, this wasn't me telling you oh, this is horrible and this is horrible, It was more of me just venting, and I needed somewhere to do it.
Have a Great Day :)

What was your script?
Also I do agree whoever accepted that Index page obviously doesn't know how simple it is.
This thread has potential to turn into a decent drama.

A Loading Screen, I just use it for my personal Server now, makes it 'exclusive' if you will.
Because your script was even more simple than the index page.

I'm not going to disagree with you here Marcuz, I will admit, mine was simple, but the script being sold is still pretty simple, and $10 is a bit much in my opinion.
Anyway, feel free to close the thread, Don't want to let it get out of hand
Yeah, there are a bunch of terrible and simple scripts that have been accepted, even though many scripts submitted that are more complex or better than the "worst of SF" are denied.
What can you do.

Tom, when you script is better than mine, THEN and only THEN you can submit it.
Here it is, I released it for free. https://scriptfodder.com/community/threads/288-free-loading-screen-simple-screen
I actually wonder if this would be approved, Neth or Marcuz, could you reply?

Why not?
Way too simple.
If someone else's script is to simple then just ignore it. Why bitch at them about it? There making money, and other people are buying it. If its really simple and being accepted, then you should make it and go make money.
When I consider something a 5 second script it's because it's way too simple in its feature list, or just in general. My job is not to babysit you and tell you what features to add, you're trying to sell something so you need to do it yourself. If it's having errors or it's something small then I'll comment, otherwise it's just not that good a script at that particular moment to put up.
I was the one who denied both of your scripts, they were just too simple, and I couldn't see them being sold, especially when compared to other products that are like it or do the same task.
Ultimately we have the 5 second script as a general thing, to let you know that it's just too simple as it stands, but if you add features, improve upon it, get feedback from others in the community, then resubmit it, there's always a good chance it will get accepted then. Complaining about it does nothing, take a good hard look and try to understand why we came to that conclusion.

Thanks for the reply, I understand that you don't want to 'babysit' us, and thats fine. I understand that the marketplace is competitive and that it's not exactly the easiest thing to get into, and I appreciate that you took the time to come and comment.
Thanks
