New to coding
I wanted to start making gmod addons and things but I have no clue where to start, I have no knowledge of any coding and wanted to start. where would I go about starting?
Try coding a simple text based console application first until you get the hang of syntax, after that it's just a process of practising and practising. In terms of learning things that might make your program more efficient, feedback and respected developers code might be useful. I'd love to refer you to the facepunch forums but errr ye
ok ty
I learned to code lua by taking existing code (gamemodes and addons) and trying to work out how they functioned and modifying simple things.
Very useful, just modify other addons.
Deconstructing other addons can be really helpful for understanding different methodologies, strategies, and habits. Just be a little bit careful to not pick up bad habits.
Besides that, I recommend starting with UI or even just functions that print stuff. Make sure not to tire yourself out by setting some large goal. Get a good foundation of Lua first and then move into GLua. You should also learn in projects to give some intensive for learning.
Code Blue has a pretty good series on youtube.

Omni Ed is a bit older of a series but still pretty good.
Bad habits... *cough*
Don't know what you're talking about :P
I started a gmod lua tutorial series here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN1e9kVZIWewR9Tm48zbxdm1qiBEWYpJI
I'm trying my best to keep this series updated. I'm actively responding to every single comment, so if you're ever stuck feel free to state your problem and I'll do my best to assist you. Also since the series is still going, feel free to suggest any topic you'd like to see covered. I also do livestreams of developing addons start to finish. Thanks and good luck.
