DDOS protection: Which providers are good, which are not worth your time?

I use Nitrous-Networks. $12 for 32 slots (Gmod), and pretty good DDoS protection too. They've been fast with support and setting up the server!

Expensive, slow, and horrible hosting.

I've used them once, I hated the shit out of them and went to NFO.

Although people dislike NFO, Hosthavoc is the second best option (imo):

Our new France location has mitigated VSE floods upward of 1.14Mpps so far. So if you're having issues with layer 7 attacks, regardless of if people like me or not; I don't know many hosts that can handle that. I doubt NFO would.

OVH is the best for DDoS protection on your game server.As long as you buy the GAME server, it will come with specialised game server DDoS protection.I sent a 2Gbps UDP Amp attack with random IPs to my gmod server IP, and none of it went through.

OVH game is really hit and miss, they only block A2S attacks iirc, but I don't know if they're actually caching or rate limiting. OVH game has worse layer 4 protection though, or at least your server is on a slower port speed. So the UDP attacks are more likely to be effective.

Funny thing is I've tested loads of different DDoS attacks on my server and nothing has went through, lol. Please provide sources for your claims. Like I've said, I sent a 2Gbps UDP attack to my server, and nothing happened.
