A question about licenses
I'm quite new here, and I don't understand 100% how licensing works when selling addons. Here, https://scriptfodder.com/knowledgebase/article/4/selling-scripts it says "If your product has any 3rd party code or content, or you modified existing code or content, you must show that you have permission from the original creator to sell your that 3rd party content with your product. If you don't show us that you have permission to sell something that isn't yours, we will assume you don't."
If the code is under the MIT license which says "Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:", do I need to get permission from the creator, or does this license count as permission?
Just to be safe.
Short form: if you decide that you want to use work(s) from another SF author, or any author for that matter, you must show you have the permission to use it. Anything falling under a MIT, FFC, OFL (for fonts), Creative Commons, etc is free for use (as long as the license states so commercially). My rule of thumb is, any content I put in my scripts, IE: images, audio, etc. I have a "License" section that publicly displays what licenses my content is under. If you're using work from another script someone is selling, you must have some type of proof (IE: a contract) that states you hold license rights.
Alright, thanks for the clarification :)
