Thx billy I already read that but understood it before i read it which was weird anyways you get a cookie too :D
After reading this I hope I can be good like you Billy, billy your one of my favorite programmer. (no joke)
Getting the basics started (like installing Notepad++ or Sublime) and making small progress and development by experimenting with coding would help you greatly in my opinion. I would recommend watching GMod LUA tutorials on YouTube if you want to get an overview of it.
You don't necessarily need to study all of it, just try experimenting and doing a simple addon or such. It will help ya. :)

Code blue teaches bad coding habits and just bad code in general
But he's friendly so its w/e
- The Wiki is your bible -- keep it open whenever you're writing code.
- Downloading free addons from the Steam Workshop (gma extractor) and look through the code. See how things work, what makes them tick. Download two addons that are suppose to do the same thing, and see how each developer writes things.
- Browse Facepunch to get tips as to what developers use -- the Do's and Don'ts
- Learn how to debug and fix issues. When someone gives you an error (if you plan on selling), you need to be able to immediately look at the error and know what's wrong. Or even just for writing your own scripts, you need to learn the terminology (nil values, variables, functions, string, int, etc).
Don't start developing bad habits from the beginning, so try to do things in good manner as you start.

I'd suggest checking out some of Acecool's posts, but he always had a horrid coding style. He knew what he was doing, but he always made things more complicated than they needed to be.
