I have a really good idea for a gmod server I am making that is non profit just a hoby. It is darkrp and I was wondering what's the best way of approaching doing it? Not advertising I just want advice.

My 2 cents? Respect and honesty at all times.

Out of all of the servers I've owned (both successful and unsuccessful), the key to success is making people want to stay. By that, I mean, give people what they want, and add on top of it. So, if you see people like gambling, get some cool custom gambling ideas.

Even if you have cool content though, the most important thing is to keep a playerbase. When getting a server off of the ground, you have to be on it with friends constantly. Nobody wants to join an empty server.

While doing that may seem sucky at first, it allows you to find more of what people want, and after you cater to the initial niche, you can expand from there.

Most important thing from my 5 years of experience is to make something fun. If all you do is copy what any other server does, 9 times out of 10, you probably won't get people, or at least not for long. There's a reason why it's easier to get players on lets say a TTT or Murder then it would be to get any on DarkRP.
