DarkRP Server
Hello all,
I started my own DarkRP server after playing on many other servers that are hosted and ruled by immature children that have a lack of knowledge in actually roleplay situations and gamemodes/games their is only a handful of server that are well good in my opinion, so i decided to take it upon my self to start my own with no knowledge in how to get players on it but i have lots of knowledge in running and creating roleplay community's after abandoning a Arma3 project for this. now i am not at all saying mine is better but i would say it has some flaws that need to be sorted which don't affect gameplay and i only really notice because im picky haha.
Anyways this post is about seeking advice on how in the world to get players onto a DarkRP server, after spending over $300 in addons and adding tons of cars, jobs and even custom made addons all with consistent gui colour scheme and well just a neat layout through out the server, people seem to join love the server but not stay around due to lack of players online.
I have had the server for about a month and tried adding it on various websites that show the sever in a top100 list for example and a couple forums but people still seem to never join and the ones that do love it, this area seems to be a gap in the market for Garrys mod servers in general a places for advertising servers and getting known. So i am wondering if anyone had any advice for me and the rest of the community.

patients is key, and not starting darkrp servers for your community as a starting server.
What makes your server different than others? "after spending over $300 in addons and adding tons of cars, jobs and even custom made addons" Sound pretty much like any other darkrp server out there..
The only reason to get a crowded server is luck or being a professional in lua. There are so many (big) competitors who already do the job really well and also the best way to get players is having enough players.

You know what, trying to seek advice was probably a bad idea, if all the advice you get is people nit picked at pointless things and making stupid comments about nothing related i.e. if its not related to the topic just don't post in the first place.

Honestly, as a server owner myself, this is what I can recommend.
It's all about friends. When you invite friends, they invite theirs, then they invite theirs and so on. If nobody joins at first you just have to sit and wait. It's really random how many players you will get and there's no way to predict it. If you have a stable server and good content, people will come and stay. Also note players are mostly children, so the economy should be really jacked up. It makes kids feel like they are actually earning something at a decent rate.
Bro patience is very key. I run my own military rp server. It took me at least 2 months before I actually made the top 10. Just wait and get people to enjoy your server :)

Its not like others and i don't want to tell everyone what specifically make mine unique because it will be copied or made in to various addons and sold, if theirs a gap in the market i would prefer to keep it close to my chest that tell everyone about it. Also don't put words in peoples mouths "its our fault?" i didn't say the community or you but specifically one person.
