Ever since I released my first script on here, I've offered over steam supportl This is a huge mistake. If you plan on releasing stuff here, MAKE SURE TO KEEP SUPPORT IN THE TICKET SYSTEM ONLY. Support over steam is messy. With Steam having no chat save feature, it can be hard to uphold support if it ends up lasting a long period of time. gms have a ticket system that works just fine, so why not sure it?

However, saying that. Steam support means fast and "live" support. With a ticket, it could take several hours to resolve as both the user and Content Creator may get busy and not be able to answer for some time. With steam, it's all real-time and live. So I understand why users add Content Creators.

But still, gms support system is fine, no need for steam.

I totally agree with you guys, but hiding the option to opening one user's Steam profile would do jackshit; people can still find Content Creators on Steam since, well, they're on Steam.

Though I'm not a Content Creator myself I understand your amazing work and I'd be annoyed too by getting Steam requests to fix stuff instead of try to fix it through an appropriate Ticket system.

I noticed a decent amount of people use discord, so why don't content creators use that as their form of "live" support?

  1. Not everyone has discord.
  2. Some people don't like being part of 100 different discords
  3. Discord is public, it'd probably just turn aids.

Although, I've seen people use Discord for support. I know both Beast and Icarus do it. Although I am unsure as to its success.

Support on steam is like giving your personal number to a client.

Shitty idea.

Due to a company change at my work I made the mistake of letting my personal cell be left in my email signature.

Some people at work tried calling it when they couldn't get a hold of anyone for some really dumb shit.

Safe to say I didn't answer, and when I got into work I removed that part of my signature.

What was the signature before you changed it?

It's like saying "why do you even have a fence if you can climb over it" why locking your door if i can break the window and go in"

True to a degree, but you can currently change your name on GmodStore to be different than that on Steam, so that issue would be remedied for the most part. As for the profile pictures or licensing agreements, some additional provisions would need to be made in order to avoid Steam identification.

And do not forget the steamid in the url. That always allows an identification.

The idiots who don't read the fucking "DONT ADD ME ON STEAM" are the same idiots who can't use a steamid64 to find someone on steam
