IP Geo Blocker - Free country blocker // Need feedback / beta testers

Hi there,

I've been silent for quite some time now. Some of you may remember my (infamous) IPGB - IP Geo Blocker addon that was on the store for a short while.

It was eventually taken down due to some coding issues on my behalf (it was my first big project). These were mostly caused by adding GUI and database stuff to make it worthy to even sell on here. So after it was taken down I quickly made a lite version without all that problematic features, basically just the functional core and some quality-of-life features.

Recently a user added me to ask me about some features, until then I pretty much forgot this still existed. Since I was on lockdown, I decided I might as well re-continue it.

To my surprise, it was still mostly functional, but had some bugs and issues. I fixed those issues, removed unnecessary stuff and improved/added some minor functions.

I'm posting this here now due to 2 reasons:

1) I need beta testers who might need this and are willing to try out the beta version on their server (I couldn't find any issues so far). I'm thinking about making a workshop version of this, depending on the feedback.

2) I'd be happy about some constructive feedback on the coding site, I haven't really done that much lua since and I never was an expert, so anything that might help me improve is highly appreciated :)

Here are some details:

IPGBlite

A small and easy to use ip-geoblocker with a quick response time.

This addon allows you to block or whitelist certain countries for your server, anyone from a blocked country will be kicked before fully joining your server.

Features

  1. Country Whitelist
  2. SteamID Whitelist
  3. IP Whitelist
  4. Update Check with changelog
  5. Fast Kick (<5 seconds after pressing "join Server")
  6. Message Customizer
  7. Small config
  8. Optional logging module (note: on the beta branch, this is installed by default, in the final version it will be optional/separate)

How-To-Use

  1. Download from Github
  2. Install it (no guide on that one :P)
  3. head to lua\ipgb\sv_config.lua
  4. Configurate as you want, the config has detailed explanations, or ask me here.

No promises, don't expect too much, but it can be quite handy, especially for European (roleplay) servers, to avoid trolls.

Thanks for reading, any answer is appreciated.

Have a nice day and stay healthy <3
