NutScript Is Back

Hello GmodStore members :)

As you can tell by the title of this thread, NutScript has returned from its abandonment of support due to BlackTea serving his mandatory time in the military.

During 2018 the NutScript team is hoping to make a big wave in people changing over from other gamemodes and to become more than just a framework used mostly for Hl2RP.

Why should I use NutScript as a gamemode base rather than just using DarkRP?

Because NutScript has a huge capability to build a great gamemode out of. It would be very possible to create a server of the same calibre of FearlessRP, Monolith or SantosRP with NutScript! (I understand the latter example is renowned by many developers for having "shit code" but the premise is still there)

If I'm a GmodStore content creator, and I wish to provide NutScript support for my scripts, how would I do so?

Currently NutScript has a lack of formal documentation I understand that. We are in the midst of making a new documentation wiki for NutScript which will be open soon, but until then you can receive help from our developers in our discord linked below.

Am I allowed to sell schemas/nutscript plugins I make?

If you make them yourself, yes! If you've used someone elses code as a base (Someone elses schema to begin with) Ask them first.

Thank you for reading this thread. I hope as many of you as possible consider switching to NutScript or even just support the growth of NutScript in general!

-Haha yeah man Community Manager Of NutScript

I don't know if this is allowed or is considered "Advertising", I personally believe it isn't a form of advertising as it's offering a free product to help users. I'm not gaining anything from this, no affiliate link bullshit, anything. However, I don't wish to piss any of the gmodstore staff off. If you need to remove this then do so.

What will be the difference between Nutscript in the future and Helix?

What will be the difference between Nutscript in the future and Helix?

That is a tricky question to answer as currently we don't know what Helix is doing as a NS derivative and how much they will derive from it.

NutScript in the close future however, is looking very promising as with database restructuring we're going to be receiving gamemode changing updates.

One big thing in the future of NutScript that is soon to come is the database restructure which will help set apart NS from its derivatives.

Will there be any mapping interaction with Nutscript? Like in Combine Control / Clockwork where you could create custom zones, cameras, and etc. Also, will there be any basic Nutscript generators for those who aren't coding savvy? Such as TCBeast (DarkRP) or ClockworkConstructors (CW).

The NutScript website will feature an Item Generator yes.

We could include other such generators too.

Custom "Zones" are already within nutscript, unless I'm misinterpreting the question.

Good to see the main alternative to cockwork is back.

I guess the best thing to do is to make compatibility patches for NutScript, not NutScript-only-scripts

ez way to find compatible scripts :

Along with the DB reformation in the works, there's a planned "nutscript wrapper". If the aforementioned doesn't work however, We'll make an in-depth guide on all of the "alternative functions" from darkrp to NutScript including code snippets.
