Script Reviews - An Open Discussion
Please remember that my staff are volunteers and do this on their own free time, so delays may happen and I do apologize about that.
When I get a chance I'll write up a decent mockup for a new policy and standards, and post it here before we make it official.
go spank marcuz to add mentioned features to reviews
Edited just to combine some points from users and myself, this is how reviews should be done imo btw i don't care about the policy of reviews, just how they're implemented
Reviews should be organized and group by versions pulling up the most recent version. here's my attempt at explaining the Description portion of a review:
Now obviously this fucks up the current reviews and rep cause:
and also because we're going from a single review to multiple reviews that make up a single review, we could transfer old reviews and apply the rep they represent, but transferring that single review into these multiple reviews pose a problem
haha fuck marcuz amirite, giving him more shit to possibly do

As i said before, i don't think content creators need the rep system;
Sellers should have rep, but it shouldn't be associated with a review of what they are selling.
That's the real issue I see behind this. It shouldn't be like that whatsoever, it's a terrible structure. An add-on may not work properly for a specific user and the author is unable to find a solution/fix, but tries their best throughout the ticket and is friendly. That could warrant the customer to give positive rep, but at the same time, give the script a not so good review. There should be no correlation between the two and I've tried to reiterate that.
The rep system should be experience directly with a user, not how they like/dislike a script.
An add-on may not work properly for a specific user and the author is unable to find a solution/fix, but tries their best throughout the ticket and is friendly.
If it's not working at all and he can't find a fix, you need to refund the guy.

Don't wanna derail, but it could be another addon fucking shit up or the oddest of an anomaly. I really don't believe all addons can work together 'perfectly' (obvs different types of concept aren't made to work together). Also some devs aren't keen to refunding after downloading.
Edit If you were unable to help a user, both sides being friendly and responsive providing as much info and support as possible? Would you then refund them? As they have a copy of your script? (sure you can say yes if your addon uses securegmod, but not what im trying to get at)
Yeah sure, but you need to identify the conflict at least.
I'm not saying that you need to refund him straight away, but if you can't identify the problem at all, you need to think about it.

I only refund retards or people who didn't download the addon, even with the DRM.
There is some rare cases when i still refund tho.
when your client is satisfied https://i.imgur.com/T2XfNHh.png
as you can see it removed pointless posts! works like a charm
This is from my perspective as a buyer of scripts:
To repeat what kanalumaddela has said, I want my purchasing experience to be easier and don't believe the star system can adequately perform this task to begin with. Ideally a simple positive and negative review structure with the simple question "Was the script fit for purpose?".
Too many times will I buy a script and find out after the fact that the scripts overall features though creative can often at times provide little or minimal improvements to my server and sometimes make me annoyed that I'd pay for something which is not fit for my use in that something might be released that is inferior in design or be outright a mirror of another script with only a few minor tweaks.
If content creators don't like bad reviews, I can only stress the importance in making it clear to your targeted purchasers what the script does more effectively and communicate why it is the best product on the market. Technical specifications in relation to scripts efficiency for high population servers, impact on low spec clients, if the script has DRM or not. When you make a script, it needs to go above and beyond to be more effective and original with a slew of features that make me want to have and use the script on my server. If I'm buying something I don't use or like after purchase, I should be able to express without filtering if a script is good or bad.
What would actually be useful is if concurrent use by servers as a statistical inclusion to the script purchase page could be added. Comparing purchases and actual concurrent use. If it's not being used after purchase, its probs not a very good script (in the eyes of the purchaser).
Let the idiots write the bad reviews. If you don't like it, refund them to remove the shitty reviews. Win win for everyone (provided your script features drm like securegmod and are able to deactivate use of the product)

Well maybe you should start reading the description and watching the medias then, and if you can't spend the correct time to read the whole description, that's not our fault.

yeah so they keep the addon and the money
this whole "well that's not what i understood when i bought it" is completly retarded, just because you got a compulsive buying disorder doesn't mean we're here to fix your problems, if you can't handle money, why do you even have a paypal account ?
Content Curators are here to check if there is enough medias/if the description is good enough, so you cannot play the "not descriptive enough" card.

Sometimes not all the information is available.

You've intentionally disregarded my comment if the script is using drm. Isn't the point so it can be deactivated if its unsanctioned use?

I guess that's just your opinion man. I wanna use the best scripts for my server but sometimes I'm forced to buy to try. Recent example: I purchased L2 Licence Plates when I already owned Darkrp Licence Plates. Did L2 provide something different? Yeah its different and offers a few extra customization options but is it fit for purpose for me? Not really. Wouldn't have known that if I hadn't have purchased or if someone wrote an honest review comparing the scripts.

When secure gmod rolled out, some authors did forget to include disclosure of it. However to the credit of those few, I've not seen any mistakes like that for a few months. But I'd still like to see a banner in the description or thumb of the card to make it easier to see.
