[GUIDE] Which Server-Host is the best?
ByLunaversity.xyz ๐ธat 5th of August 2017 04:00:11
It's not the fact that it's my ISP, I've literally asked a handful of friends to give me their traceroute results and they've all came up with about the same results (locations where: Cali, Arizona and Washington) one of my friends has Fiber and he had about 20 ping less than everyone else in the mix, but everyone else had a decent 100 ping, even the Washington dude using Comcast.
Yeah I have no idea then, the only thing I could imagine is the machine is overloaded. I have a friend from Florida and one from Houston Texas. The Florida one gets < 40 ping and the Houston gets < 70. I would make sure your host isn't overloading their network and machine in general, either one could be causing that.
Crident(targets EU communities)โถTrustPilotยฒ:8.3(from 0 - 10)Pretty Cheapโท

Clean Website / Contol Panel โธ

In my opinion not transparent enough, they should straight up display the exact server specs (Not that big of a deal).
I'm a little late here but thanks for the feedback!
I just need to point out at the top of our homepage:
It's also in the game servers page - however, I will try to make it more obvious for people looking in the future.

Crident has been building it self really well which has made it one of the bests hosts so far, even over GMC and NFO combined, sooner or later they're gonna switch to the US, and most customers from NFO or for some reason GMC are gonna switch to them cause they honestly do have some of the best services that are provided.OVH isn't a good option either, especially if u want a full on-dedi, their support is just absolutely shit, the nightmares Richard had trying to get the server to stop fucking up was terrible, so you should stick w/ hosts that use them, but have better methods in terms of support n' what not (such as Crident).
Thanks man! Our America operations should all be very interesting, we've got a few solutions we're going to play with once our new game panel is released. (spoiler) If anyone has any questions feel free to join our Discord, too: https://discord.gg/D5KqfKC

op
OVH... expensive... lol I haven't used their services but that sounds wrong.
Dedicated servers may cost a lot of money but OVH is definitely not expensive compared to other companies.

I've been a customer for NFO for about 3-4 years now and I have some insight on how they preform compared to some random nut buying a server, not knowing how to install addons, then giving them a bad review.Their main focus is latency, that's one of the main reasons why they're probably expensive, but definitely not good at havingtop of the lineddos protection, while in term, their ddos protection can protect against $5 to maybe $50 booters. They're constantly answering tickets, that means your usual wait time is anywhere from 10 minutes to at max an hour, people just get pissed cause their agents don't give them script support, which is reasonable cause who would for a third party item.I've had 1 issue with them in my years of using them, a darkrp detard retard was using almost all of our nodes' cpu (somehow) on about a couple of cores, so I noticed and asked if they could switch our CPU, and they did, it took 15 minutes and bada bang, our server is still the same, we're just on different hardware and everything runs fine and no more cpu peaks. The only main issue people have with NFO is:Their ddos protectionThe fact they're a popular host, so regardless people are going to shit on themTheir pricingAll of these are explained easily and debunked. Hell if you want, you can ask them yourself why they don't provide better ddos protection options, it's simply their provider, they risk ddos protection for absolute beast latency, which in my opinion is a complete win. Side note: if you get one of their premium locations (no extra cost) you get extra protection (listed here: https://www.nfoservers.com/networklocations.php) over normal ones.In all: NFO is far from a bad host, but they're not the best host, they're more or less higher than average middle ranking. There's your positive and negative feedback.Edited:Thinking about it, they're not really over priced for the stuff they provide, especially in America's economy, but if you're foreign, like I said, NFO is the bestUShost so far.
I 100% agree with this. Also, their pricing keeps going down. I have seen a price reduction 2 times while using them.

You're using pterodactyl panel. I use it and it's great! It isn't really meant for hosting companies but it can easily be modified to work.
I'm a stinky doo-doo head named Leo5g
Nice first post, maybe set up your steam profile too lol.
Bit hard to take your recommendation seriously :S

I recommend EternalHosting. They are like really new but like the customer support is amazing. They made the ticket system seem like a live chat that you just had to refresh and the server was up in like a couple seconds when I ordered Garrys Mod. No lag and no problems.

TBH if you're already using fake account to promote your service, then make it usable before doing so

Tbh if you're going to try to find the site, at least don't click just the first relevant result you see.
There's also:

@Luna I haven't hosted a Garry's mod server for ages now, would NFO gameserver be okay for a start (Considering I would host in US)? I don't have in mind doing anything big atm, probablly 40players tops.

Yeah definitely for a US location NFO is the best option you can go with.

We're using TCAdmin right now. Our new panel is built off Pterodactyl, but we like to call it dino panel because I can't spell.

leo5gg, is that you?
What I suggest is looking into providers such as ExtraVM for their OpenVZ virtual machines (just use fuckin LGSM and you are fine) and even SoYouStart, a subdivision of OVH. Link for ExtraVM: https://extravm.com/openvzvps.html Link for SoYouStart: https://www.soyoustart.com/us/game-servers/

I am using SoYouStart, and I have to say it is the best host I've ever used.
I have to agree with Blizzard here, I've setup several SoYouStart boxes and the owners are very pleased at the performance.
-Edit- I also would think if you want a gamepanel, look up BrightGamePanel. Not necessarily easy to setup but message me and I might be kind enough to do so.
Update, people were bashing me for using OVH and I wanted to get some people on to test the ping.

use net_graph 4 / status / ping in console, scoreboard doesn't show the correct ping even on default scoreboards.

I'm not going to keep arguing this. Obviously there are plenty of huge communities using OVH with no issues.
