"Unique" Money Printer Addons

Last read Never

gmodstore is full of printer addons, and I noticed that a lot of them follow the same principles:

1) At least 1 value that decreases over time, which the character refills. Common ones seem to be Battery, Ink, Paper, and Coolant.

2) At least 1 kind of Upgrade for the printer. These are usually purchased by looking at a button on the entity and pressing E, or buying a separate entity and touching it to the printer. Common ones here are Silent Printing, Permanent Battery/Coolants, and increased print amount/speed.

3) "sleek" "clean" "flat" "sexy" "unique" "custom" boring 3D2D interfaces.

4) Most have custom models these days, but they don't all look good. They feature unnecessary animations, materials, yada yada. Big filesizes.

You would think in an ecosystem like gmodstore, content like I described would be looked at more carefully and denied for being, what is essentially a cookie cutter printer idea. I joined several DarkRP servers just to check out what their printers are like, and every single one that had gmodstore printers has the same boring features, nothing unique. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice printer addons here like Money Clickers, but the vast majority are boring, copy the same base ideas, and are no fun to play with. Also what's up with the recent obsession with bitcoin mining lol

I honestly think the whole idea of money printers are daft, if they are a thing they should be a lot more indepth, Bit Mining has taking a good toll on this, you have to do a bit more to actually get something out of them, but it's still very similar to Printers. I suppose people like it because it's an improved version of Printers, but still could do with some more extra stuff to make them more fun.

Maintaining something would be good instead of just buy the printer let it sit there for ages....

The thing about DarkRP though is that most players dont want to maintain a printer, they want to buy one and then go and piss about. DarkRP is toxic and so the game mechanics tend to be simple and if they're not, then they arent used that much by players. Just my opinion from running a few servers and playing on servers.

#4

I agree. If you add to much complexity to printing then people would rather not do it. The way printers are currently is "buy it and leave it while I got raid or troll some dudes". Nothing will change that unless server owners stop allowing people to buy printers and just leave them there. However making printers to hard to maintain will take a lot of RP away from the server as people are too busy printing there money to be doing any other types of interactions.

People only print money because salary in any darkrp server sucks compared to printing so why not.

In case you haven't noticed, almost 95% of the crap on here is just the same stuff redone over and over again. Nothing is original.

#6

Trust me, I noticed. I'm just waiting on someone to cry about the fact that I posted this with 2 denied scripts again.

#7

Says the guy who submitted a darkrp jobs creator

1 of those addons is over a year old while other is 8 months old, so who's gonna cry when it's not even anything recent?

The one person who reacted negatively on this post happens to have posted a printer addon, here's the feature list.

Notice how almost every single feature is a part of the ones I listed above

also what kind of printers can be exploited lmfao

1) Many printers you find can probably be exploited in one way or another.

2) Just because he disagrees it isn't down to him owning a printer script, he is also a community owner and can probably agree that even though most printers may be boring, they are a staple to many DarkRP servers because some people don't want to have to spend all their time in their base micro-managing a printer that is too complex to use, sure server owners want their players to have a sense of achievement and an overall goal so players play for longer, which is what other addons like bitminers or drug addons are for, money printers are more balanced, lower income, less effort methods of making money (if the servers economy is decent enough) which server owners also need to stop their players getting too demotivated if for instance they can't afford any weapons to defend themselves or they want to play another role where they can't earn as much money by doing their main objective. Also the printer addon which features you posted has over 700 sales which to me says that what i'm saying is remotely true as server owners will vote with their money for what they want and don't want. B

Besides i'm going to take a wild guess and say for every 'simple' printer script uploaded to gmodstore another five or so have been denied.

Didn't know having a near silent opposed opinion to you leads to a justified reason for you to attack me. I will do better in the future lord, sorry.

  1. printers are a core feature of darkrp, of course they're not going to stray too far from the norm because the norm is what people like. what can you really differentiate about printers
  2. you made a judgement call that curators aren't doing their job based on a total of 21 of the 837 on the website that aim to fulfill the same purpose, i dont think that checks out
  3. you havent actually offered any suggestions for what gmodstore (or the creators creating printers) should do
  4. why not try making a printer yourself? if you can create a unique idea for printers that'll create competition for the other printers on the market
  5. if you actually did your research you'd see that very little printers are actually accepted into gmodstore, maybe there was a lot at first but not anymore

There is only so much a printer can print.

Ive noticed that your only argument is that they are all the same. You havent actually gave a counter argument towards what I and Code Blue have said. Content creators are here to make money, they will create what they know will work, if they happen to think of an idea that they think is much better and will get more sales then they will make that, but with printers, the concept is mostly the same, it prints money over time and the player gets it, theres not much way to bend that concept.

I've seen all too often people try and make cool different takes on addon concepts and have them completely flop. It really pays off financially to stick to what people like. Easy business is good business.

WOAH, YOU REALLY GOT ME.

I didn't submit a "darkrp jobs creator". I submitted a DarkRP automatic custom job seller. There is literally only one other script that does this which is Prometheus, which I started making the addon before they even had that implemented. I only got around to finishing it recently.

Don't talk shit when the only two addons you have is a loading screen and a screenshotter, basic boi.

Some of us just like making cool stuff. Not being code monkeys doing the same thing over and over again like a basic bro.

I mean go at it if you want to, but you'd be negating the basic purpose of Gmod which is creating new things. Doing the same things over with a slightly different format is beyond lazy and unoriginal imho.

If you think Money Printers are boring and generic, tell us what to add and what to edit. Give us feedback, instead of making a rant and complaining that they are even on the website in the first place. Also, not all Money Printers are the same. Owain's money printer addon was a Tier system, that you upgrade, which i've never seen done before (unless you count buying seperate printer entities as that). My own Printing Addon has a Hacking System and Admin SWEP, ect. Feedback is everything on a website like this, so please, give us it, and we'll listen, instead of rants like this that help pretty much no one. It's a massive case of "Help us help you".

I don't understand where the amount of addons you have on the store matters, its the quality not the quantity. His loading screen is one of the most advanced ones out there.

I think you miss understand the point of this website. It’s a marketplace, my sole aim here is to make as much money as I possibly can. To do that I sell desirable scripts and maintain them with high quality support (Thanks to Dr.Pepper <3). I don’t see how running a “lazy and unoriginal” idea or “doing the same thing over and over” when it will pay my bills is a bad thing??
