Go upvote this, https://github.com/Facepunch/garrysmod/pull/1427

It adds the ability for the web developer to get the players preferred volume using a convar.

Web developers can use

function GameDetails( servername, serverurl, mapname, maxplayers, steamid, gamemode, volume ) { }

and users can use cl_loading_volume 0 to mute or even cl_loading_volume 0.8 to lower the volume. (if the web developer uses the volume variable )

It's a cool idea, however, I have to agree with robot as well. The bad part is 80% of all loading screens developed and placed on gmodstore were people's first scripts, and I very seriously doubt they looked at the documentation to see what was supported or available. Also the fact of, most server owners that apply a loading screen with a music feature, USE that music feature. I used it even on my old servers, however, I would turn the volume settings way down because I didn't want it blasting people's ears when they connected.

Yeah, but it couldn't hurt to have the feature. Right now there is no way to have a toggle or volume for loading music, other than going and manually muting awesomium. Many people like the music but many people hate it. Yeah, developers probably wont use it. But it would be a nice thing to have.

Loading screens are dead

Edit: you change the volume by a command? would it be possible to use the music volume under the audio tab in the options?

To be fair I hate the loading screen music. Slows down downloads, it's sloppy and often not my kind of music. But i applaud you for making it less bad haha!

I don't believe it slows down downloads. Annoying? Yes. Actually slows down downloads? I doubt it.

As pointed out by Luna, it would depend on what "back-end" crap is in the loading screen. It would make very little difference though.
