I got a question before buying a server
Im going to buy a vps to host my gmod server, i really dont know if this configs are good for 1 server of around 20 to 30 slots, my fear is there is only 1 vcore and i dont think its sounds good. Here are all the configs
OpenStack KVM 99.99% SLA 1 vCore 2.4 GHz 6 GB RAM 25 GB of space High Availability (Ceph)
If you help, THANKS YOU SO MUCH
So less RAM and more CPU would be useful. As I know Gmod can only use up to 4 GB of Ram (because it's a 32-Bit application). Not really sure, 20 players could be possible on a sandbox with a small amount of addons but 30 Players on DarkRP probably not...
2.4 Ghz isn't enough power to host a gmod server. Look for 3ghz+ or else you'll start to get lag with 10+ players.
What is your budget on your server and the location? You might just look for a managed hosting for a single Garry's Mod server if you are only planning to use it for Garry's Mod. Then I would wait till I had enough money to get a dedicated server and move my server there whenever I can. In my opinion most VPS servers aren't worth it due to generally having low CPU clock speed.
Just thought id mention this. Because alot of people dont understand that even tho its 1 VCore at 2.4GHZ you have to factor in the virtualisation, OS and other behind the scenes processing thats done. Also saying ill run my server on "2" VCores like alot of people think wont work as SRCDS = Single Core Only with a slight HT buffer if you modify the server loading dll's but this causes major stability issues. Also it would proberably be cheaper to buy a rented host if your only after 1 server. For most GMod Servers i host on Ubuntu 14.04 and 16 they use around 1-3 GB of RAM depending on the number of addons (32 slots filled). I would recommend 3.2-3.6 GHZ and make sure the CPU is good at SINGLE processing rather than a multi-core processing as this can also degrade performance.

You can run a server on multiple cores (Windows only), but using more than 2 cores wouldn't make a difference since it only runs a small part of the calculations (forgot what it exactly was) on the other cores. This small part of calculation will never be higher than what the 'main' core has to process.
Just get a server from GMC Hosting :)
Try getting something from hosthavoc hosting, they won't disappoint you, have had a heavy usage gamemode run on their hosting, and it didn't have any impact on performance, besides the occasional lag spike which doesn't happen often.
DarkRP being a light gamemode, you should be good to go with hosthavoc, though for a VPS, you should get something over 3.0+ ghz for your CPU.
