Burn When Entering Direct Sunlight
Hello!,
This is just a general discussion asking if anyone knows or has a addon of some kind that when a specific job for darkrp is outside of an area (sewers) that they burn and take damage. Trying to implement this in a darkrp server. I have searched the Steam workshop, garrysmod.org and here but have not seen anything related to it.
If there is no such way let me know or if you know of a way please dm me or comment here so others know aswell.
Thanks For Reading, Wacko
This is possible. you just need to check if the player has the Skybox over his head (and do some sun checks or just check the ingame time to set an time where the damage is taken) and give him some damage and fire particles
and i dont recommend to open a job and a thread at the same time (this is possible too that you can get a warn)
If you can can you provide an examlpe code please and thankyou for the warn of a warn. I will remove the job :)
You could do a trace to see if it touches the sky. If it does damage them.

Posting a job is recommended for people with almost no experience, yes, people will **help **you here. But the keyword is help. Nobody will spoonfeed you because most of the time they would rather just do it for you and be compensated for their work.
@JustPlayer had a alright solution to your problem, if that doesn't help you enough I highly recommend resorting to posting a job.
I currently own this addon in real life
idk, doing a trace of the sky is a pretty shitty way of doing it. It works I guess but it's not accurate at all. In theory you should be burning up when you're standing next to a window, for example.
util.IsSkyboxVisibleFromPoint( Vector position ) to check the skybox, util.GetSunInfo() to check if the sun is visible.
I'm not a fan of using clientside to determine whether or not the client should take damage, but in this case the worst thing that could happen is the client not taking any damage.
Just out of curiosity, why do you need this?
