iOS or Android?
Hey all,
I am currently sitting on an iPhone 7 and I am debating the move as I completely fucked my jailbreak and had to update to the latest iOS.
I'm getting quite fed up with the changes Apple are doing and I want to have a bit of customisation with what I can do to my phone which Apple no longer want people to do.
I'm slightly aware that you can install tweaks on Android phones and you can access root etc but I've not looked into it much.
Any input on whether to stay with my iPhone 7 or get the new Samsung Galaxy S8?
Samsung 4 the win tbh
Well, I wouldn't specifically go with Samsung. Look into the other Android alternatives first, and only if Samsung is the most tempting you should go with it. Samsung's version of Android isn't that good, especially if they still use "TouchWiz"
Android all the way. I went for a Google Nexus using the Project Fi plan.
I'd suggest the Pixel if you can afford it.

I didn't know there were different distros.
I think I would personally miss stuff like TouchID instead of pass codes, finger print for Apple Pay and general Apple features which make life much easier.
What phone do you recommend looking at? Obviously I wouldn't want to spend as much as I've done so on this iPhone 7.

I've for some reason heard the Pixel wasn't too great and was over hyped?

There's finger print for Android Pay on Android. But only on phones that have a fingerprint sensor. Pixel doesn't have great specs compared to last year's phones, but it has Google Assistant and some nice camera features. Google Assistant will be available on all android phones soon-ish anyway.
I myself have the Nexus 6P. Brilliant phone.

I think a fingerprint sensor would have to be a must for me, seeing as it's become a norm to use one. I assume where Apple Pay/Contactless is supported, Android pay is too seeing as they all use the same technology.
LG V20 is pretty nice, I don't mind it has a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone, but the dual camera is pretty nice with the wide angle lens to capture more.
Looking into it, that Google Assistant would be quite handy to me seeing as I am waiting for the launch of Google Home in the U.K.
Does anyone know when Google Assistant is coming across other Android devices? I'm not fussed on specs and such, more so functionality like browsing social media, the occasional game or two and ease of access as well as modifications. If the Google Pixel allows you to use tweaks etc then I think I might give it a go.
Edited The Google Pixel seems to cost around the same price as what I paid for my iPhone which is a bit of a stump seeing as if only get about £350ish for my iPhone and then having to pay £300 more for the Pixel.

Yeah TouchWiz sucks, I'm still running the official Galaxy Note with a Marshmallow ROM and it works brilliantly.
Huawei or OnePlus, all the rest is dumpster tier lul
OnePlus is really nice. So is some Huawei phones yeah. You can also enable Google Assistant already on all newer Android phones by rooting them.

Newer phones being which ones? Another feature which isn't the most needed would also be IP67 or higher rating as that would be a tad of a bonus.
I would say the Nexus, In my opinion of course.
Like I said I love my Nexus, best choice I made.
Pixel is great too, my older brother has one. Fast and has an amazing camera.
I have actually had both. I started with a shit Galaxy Exhibit (hated it) but then had the Galaxy s4. It worked well but after a while it got slow. Then I moved to the galaxy s5. Same as the s4. Now I have the iPhone 7 and it seems to be much quicker. I love iMessage but setimes i wish i could customize it. Also, on the Galaxy s8 the touchwiz does not look that bad. Samsung has really improved. However, i almost got the Pixel but I wanted to try an iPhone. Go with what you want. Try it out at the store and compre the specs. Weigh the pros and cons of switching and see if it is worth it.
Nah TouchWiz is shit along with any manufacturer that uses their own launcher. That's why I stick with flashing CyanogenMod (it's rebranded, but I can't remember the new name).

If I did go with Samsung, it it possible to put Nougat on it or no?

S8 is on Nougat by defualt but it has Touchwiz interface. There are themes to make it look like a stock android such as Google Now Launcher.
