Addon not showing up on some servers

I created a gmod addon and everything works fine in singleplayer and on my local server. But when I sent it to some friends it worked fine when they used it in singleplayer, but the it does not show up when they try using it on their servers.

The addon should create entities, but they are not listed in the spawn menu on their servers. They say that there were no error messages on their server console at all and that it even printed my debugging text.

Does anybody have an idea why this could happen?

Have they tried spawning the entity with code rather than just the spawn menu? If it works on your server and not others could be an issue with conflicting addons. If you are 100% it works in single player then I cannot think of much what it could be other than what I have suggested above unless you can give any other information.

I told on of my friends to spawn the entity with console commands, but he said he just got an error message. He even made a completely new otherwise vanilla server for testing but it still did not work. The weird thing is that the addon must get loaded to some degree, since it gives some debug console output on his server.

Not sure what I can tell you, I guess in terms of the entity could be an issue with how that is being defined although if it works in single player I don't get why that would change on a server. All I can recommend is doing some debug work to see if all the lua files are running and if so work out what parts of the code are not running.

Sorry for the late response, I figured out the 2 mistakes I made: The first one was that I had the addon installed at my version of Gmod and I forgot to add the lua download lines in the code, so the client lua files were missing on my friends' servers. The second mistake was that I had filenames with capital letters, which meant the mod would not work on any linux server since linux distinguishes between small and capital letters while windows does not.
