Good web hosts for MySQL databases

Hello Gmodstore! A few months ago my host, GMCHosting had decided to move their clients from OVH to a shared datacenter located in Dallas, Texas (roughly 2.5k KM apart.) this caused extreme instability issues with my servers, seeing as once the connection to the databases is lost seeing as the web-node is still located in Canada- my DarkRP-based servers will basically go corrupt until a server restart is manually made (which if I am not around will take up to a day). Unfortunately I do not know enough about coding to have these issues handled any other way, I would be very thankful if somebody was able to provide me with a reliable and safe web host which I could use to host my databases on, or an insight for a good solution. Thank you very much!

I highly recommend Vultr for your web hosting needs (until ertug can setup web hosting in Dallas). They have a Dallas location with <2ms latency to the GMC servers, and actually share the same datacenter I believe.

Thank you very much, I will look into Vultr! And yeah, I wish I could've just stayed completely dependent on Ertug because I trust him more than any other host, but I no longer believe he has an incentive on migrating his web node any time soon.

That is incorrect fine sir. I do thank you for that one though. Equinix Dallas is what you are thinking I believe.

Please keep in mind that I'm still working on transitioning all of our services over to Dallas including the web hosting and Teamspeak 3 infrastructure. While I doubt the latency issue is what is causing your problem, I do apologize for any inconvenience that it may have caused you. I don't have an exact ETA, but I will be sure to customize the web end a lot more than what it is now. Thanks.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this same issue but for a MySQL host in Chicago, IL? I've been trying to find the most reliable one.

I just didn't know if their Chicago location was as good as their Dallas so I didn't know if there would be anymore suggestions. Thank you though.

Anyone got experience with GoDaddy here?

Yes, do not use GoDaddy. Seriously, just don't. They're much less generous with hosting limits when compared to hosts like GameSwitchers, although they boast live phone support, in my experience when I used them, they weren't able to help with even basic things like why my site directed to others' web properties (they use shared IPs which is fine, but they bugged out sometimes during my time using them). They're also really shady with their renewal practises, you can find deals for their hosting starting at $0.99/month with a free domain for a year, but then which renew at $4.99/month (not including your domain, which is marked up from $0 to $12 [not even counting privacy protection, that'll be another $8] for a .com) the next year.

As a vendor of a web script, providing support for GoDaddy products is just a hassle as well. Until just very recently they refused to support anything above PHP 5.6. Although I think it and the issue of missing extensions has been remedied in recent years, my bad experience with them means I certainly wouldn't recommend them in the future. If for some naive reason you do host with them, make sure you're using their Linux hosting. IIS (Windows) is unperformant and still not compatible with some things without additional setup. The permission system on Windows is painful.

That's my GoDaddy horror story. I haven't tried their VPSes so I can't comment on them, but stay far, far away from their shared web hosting. Maybe try GameSwitchers instead.
