Isnt GTX 1080 with 4790k a waste of performance ? Isnt the CPU too slow ?

No, it won't bottleneck a i7-4790k To get a good idea of how long the 4790K will last, just look at how older Intel processors are doing. For example, the i7-2600K is now 5.5 years old (released in early 2011) and at stock clocks it does show somewhat lower performance compared to the newest Intel CPUs. However, with a good overclock it gains back much of that lost performance. So you would probably be able to stick with a 2600K until early 2017 at least. By that logic a 4790K (released in 2014) should last you until at least 2020. Obviously, nothing in tech is set in stone, and there could be some massive revolution either in CPU technology or system requirements that makes the 4790K become obsolete faster or slower than that. But there's not really any way you can plan for that, of course.
