because DRM is cracked super easily for GMod, as ScriptEnforcer was literally just RunString with a http.Fetch that could be cracked in under a minute by literally anyone - the more of an issue you try to make the redistribution of the script, the more of an issue you're making for the end users who buy the scripts.if you really think your gmod addon code is that precious to protect just wait for gmodsecurebut as of right now, stop being dicks to your customers and fix your scripts
This might have already been said but is there ways to use maybe .dll's or something that people need to have installed to run scripts..? Just a thought.. i mean i doubt no one has ever thought of dlls but is there a reason why this would not work? Never really even knew what dlls are but i mean can they control things without people being able to edit them?
Please note i really dont like the idea of DRM's in gmod as if i buy something i most likely want to take it apart and learn from it but i mean could .dll files provide a way to make sure people cant get scripts when they dont have them?

no. SE hid the Server code, so removing his checks wouldn't do much? It'll remove the errors on the serverside yes, however SE also served the Server code to the server, thats why you need that check. But with SE down no one can access the server code. Also Drizzy.Vip's workaround never worked, ever.
Evidently it did work as he got banned for releasing the bypass... They wouldn't ban him for chatting shit.

Pretty much everyones' bypass for scriptenforcer always worked even the skids at leakforums. People that used it where just so insecure that they never saw scriptenforcer did basically nothing cause it was bypassed every single "check" of the way.
Drizzy check was detected by SE and it banned people for "tampering". And Crenox saying just delete the SE check in the code is what all leakers say but are forgetting that the script won't even work then because you are not receiving a bunch of the code. In the case of DayZ it is all the inventory commands etc.
There are really unscrupulous people, I hope that phoenix made enough money to move to another planet

I know that I'll get hate for this, but I feel like everyone witch hunting Phoenix is unfair. What he did was a massive dick move, and people who paid money for scriptenforcer should be entitled to it back, but I don't think its fair to hate him just because he's decided to leave a community that tbf is toxic at times. (I'm aware that a lot of people who were directly affected have a right to be upset, I would be too if my scripts were broken over something I didn't do, but I'm more on about the people who just decided to join the hate train)
EDIT: Just to make it clear, this is aimed at the first time posters butt hurt because 1 script they owned won't work for a few days and probably don't even know who Phoenix is

See the thing is, is that Phoenix had a lot of haters, but he also had people who would defend him. He just took a shit on everyone regardless of their standing. Lapin, Commander, Luna, it doesn't matter who you were, he just left and fucked everyone over.
Phoenix never handled things appropriately. When he worked on ScriptFodder he had very few commits (less than Jamie if you can believe that for all that he did), yet claimed he did a lot for the community. He also held the domain over Matt's head when the separation had to happen between both parties, until he finally caved.
He's never handled things professionally, nor well. Hell, he's banned people out of personal spite on his website. He's made comments he shouldn't have, and allowed people to buy unbans from his service - defeating the whole purpose of the ban in the first place.
This was the final straw for many reasons, most of them obvious, but mostly because Phoenix has proven he can't be trusted in a business scenario, nor can he be trusted in a professional setting. He wasn't going to refund people as he made it clear yesterday his PayPal was closed. He was going to try and take the money and run, but then he didn't realize PayPal was still going to come after him with the disputes/chargebacks.
Phoenix has nobody to blame but himself. He had multiple routes open, but he wanted to act like a pussy and dip. He made his bed, so he needs to lie in it.

Thank you for informing me of a few events I wasn't aware of. I've never personally talked with him or had any contact for that matter. I was aware he'd done some bad things to people, but what you've told me makes me understand a lot more why the more dominant members have a hatred for him. Wow, kinda mind blow by some of the shit you've just told me.
However, does that justify even people who know nothing about him to join the hate train?? Just people who saw the notification to the thread and thought "Let's write a mean post because everyone else is". Because I fully understand anyone who lost script functionality because of what he did, but the people who maybe ran 1-2 scriptenforcer scripts don't have much of a place to be angry imo. The content creator will fix the scipt in a matter of days.
This is all just my opinion and I personally disagree with hate trains. But an opinion is an opinion. If you think that all this hate from every party is justified, I hold nothing against you for that.
