At least I don't still have the santa thing going on after New Years. You're getting senile in your old age.

I dont know what you are all on about.

I just host my server on 1 MB a second internet at home, no prices needed.

I can only get 4 players, but thats the most darkrp renames get anyways.

Serenity Servers

Serenity Servers is pretty impressive for being run by 1 guy. I've only ever had downtime issues with them once and have always had my support tickets in 1-2 days (less than 12 hours if I post it during the day in his timezone) A rather unique situation emerged when I was with them where I was DMCA'd over some code that was licensed for free public use. Unlike some places they didn't just suspend my service and leave me clueless what to do, they sent me an email, waited for my response, and resolved the issue in my favor. I can fully recommend them for beginners in the server owning biz.

I've recently gotten a new host for my main server called Nitrous. I'll be posting a review on them sometime this month likely. I've only been with them for half a month so I don't see it fit to review them quite yet. (if you'd like my opinions anyways you can always DM me, but take it with a grain of salt since I've been with them only briefly)

Nitrous run ~20 game servers per node on average, which is pretty heavy. Serenity is worse than nitrous from what I hear with overloading, but they host a lot of their servers with nitrous' sister company zare, anyway - so chances are you're not going to notice a performance difference between the two - your server is probably even in the same "datacenter" if you're using one of their UK locations.

When I was getting into gmod servers first ones I used where Serenity, Xeno and Nitrous.

Serenity kept throwing the tickrate under the bus when we got a decent amount of players (16) on our literally vanilla TTT server, we only had like 4 addons so I was forced to move hosts and I switched over to Xeno, xeno obviously is a terrible host, they're over priced as fuck and honestly performance wise where worst than Serenity, waste of ~$39 for 24 slots, dunno if they changed their prices since then. Finally went to Nitrous, and their performance just kept sucking, didn't even let us go over 14 players before the server started having major issues.

I know this isn't an addon causing it or anything cause when we switched to NFO everything was fine and we ran smoothly as ever.

NFOServers issues

Around 3 days ago I was just buying a simple VDS same payment information and everything that I've used for 4 years now and I got blocked for some odd reason when trying to pay for it. So I contacted support cause I cannot do anything, I can't pay any server bills, can't put money in my coffer to pay bills, nothing the server I host for TFA is gonna go down and my old webhost is going down cause of it, simply can't pay the bills cause I'm blocked.

The told me they're going to transfer it to their "CEO" and so far 3 days later there's no response, I've tried to get higher priority on it through another ticket by asking the nfo staff if they could get his attention or some shit but apparently they have 0 comms with him, can't do anything about the block so I'm stuck waiting on this guy to pay my servers and stop them from going down because of a shitty bug on their side.

Here's some sources:

tbh this has gone on long enough to where my servers are at risk of going down cause of it so I'm gonna move hosts all out off nfo and to Crident when OVH releases Virginia in February.

NFO has done that for a while. Eventually the CEO will ask you for your ID or proof of identity and "unlock" your account again.

how long does it usually take?

One of my services was due yesterday and it's gonna start shutting down soon, and tomorrow is the due date on another server.

Been with GMC for a long time. It is time he really started listening to the crash issue. I am with Crident now (basically the same). GMC has a very very bad crashing problem. I have spoken to so many community owners and devs who all agree its an issue. I love how GMC is built and what he provides is great but once again We went from GMC to Crident and for some reason we dont crash anymore. Same with any other host we use. Our dev is boarderline going crazy trying to figure out why GMC doesnt provide any support other than (hire a dev) as a response.

I never experienced any crash issues with GMC's Montreal location (used for over a year) - and aren't experiencing any now with their European location. However 99% of my scripts are self-written, so I think un-optimized addons are to blame if you are experiencing problems. I've recently moved my US servers to their Dallas TX location and have noticed a great performance increase with zero issues still. Definitely recommend GMC's Dallas plans over any other host I've tried.

What kind of performance increases have you noticed? Do you have any ideas why the performance improved from Montreal?

I don't get these people that say NFO is good, ah yes. You get people and the server isn't laggy so it's a good host, right? Originally in NFO there was this bug in Garry's Mod that allowed you to put the fake servers, all because of a security issue. Yes, they have good support but I don't love NFOservers at all. It's all about OVH and Crident now which are good.
