Suggestions on modeling?
Whats the best approach when it comes to modeling i'm already very intermediate at Mapping and would like to start modeling?
Start off by using Blender and play around a little. Move the cube, cut the cube, scale the cube, rotate the cube, etc. Once you get used to it, read some tutorials online about weight painting and rigging. Both of them are important to animate a model.
Thanks i'm starting to learn the basics of blender.
honestly YouTube makes it seem harder than it is. everyone uses the same video just search "create a model in gmod" and it should popup, if you're familiar with mapping then you most likely know of VTFEdit which will be used for creating textures. In case you happen to be a student you can sign up for a free student license at substance painter and this will be what you use to create materials other wise you could unwrap the uv, etc. Download http://steamreview.org/BlenderSourceTools/ for exporting the model into Garry's Mod, this can easily be installed into your blender by going into blender and selecting Edit>Preferences>Add-ons>Install and then double clicking the zip (do not extract). Once you have created the model you will need to copy and paste it as such, lets say the models name is pizza then pizza_idle and pizza_phys. You will need to do this
to let garry's mod know the model is idled. Good Luck!
The below link contains Crowbar, VTFEdit, a cube & a vmt to get you started.

My friend, you started out exactly as myself, mapping to modeling.
Just mess around with the program. It works! Self-teaching is how many of my friends and myself
got started.
