Be careful with this Gmod client (Sakamoto / mrtinga0)

Hey, I just want to share something that happened to me recently in case it helps someone else avoid the same situation.

A few days ago I got contacted by someone called Sakamoto (mrtinga0) about making a Gmod map. At first it sounded pretty cool — big RP map, Moscow setting, factions, etc. He mentioned a budget around $1200 so I thought it was legit.

But honestly, after talking with him and starting the work a bit, things started feeling weird.

Right from the beginning he was pushing to start immediately. Like literally:

“why not start rn and show me some progress tomorrow morning”

This is for a full map from scratch, not something small. And then he adds:

“I love being showed screenshots of progress lol so please do that maybe each hour or something”

So yeah… hourly updates on a project like this.

I still gave it a try because I didn’t want to miss the opportunity, but the more we talked the more I realized he didn’t really have things planned out. The idea was huge (entire city, Kremlin, interiors, factions, etc.) but when I asked for references or details I’d get stuff like:

“I don’t have none than those ones”

or just “Moscow in 1942”

That’s it. No real direction, no layouts, nothing about gameplay or scale.

Meanwhile he kept asking for progress constantly:

“Any progress yet?”

“So how is the map going”

“Anything yet so far?”

Even within short periods of time. It felt like I was being watched more than actually working with someone.

Now the biggest issue was the payment.

We agreed on upfront payment. But instead of paying, he kept pushing it back again and again.

First it was:

“I can only cash my check today or tomorrow latest”

Then:

“I will cash my check tomorrow morning don’t worry”

Then the next day… same thing again.

And during all of this he still expected me to keep working and sending updates like nothing was wrong.

At one point I slowed down because, well… I wasn’t getting paid. And his reaction was basically:

“Why didn’t you do much? I told you I will deposit it today”

So it just became this loop of:

“tomorrow I pay” → no payment → still asking for work → repeat

I also tried to be honest at some point and told him straight up that the project was too big for me and I didn’t have enough time (I study and work). His response was:

“Don’t give up bro why”

“You’re actually doing a great job ngl”

“Just continue please”

And I don’t know… it didn’t feel like support, it felt like he just wanted me to keep going anyway.

In general the whole thing felt like:

1. huge project with barely any planning
2. constant pressure for updates
3. no payment while work is already being done
4. and excuses about payment day after day

I’m not saying 100% scam or anything, but it’s definitely not a good situation to get into.

If I had to give advice from this:

don’t start anything until you actually get paid upfront, no matter how “nice” or “motivating” the client sounds.

Just be careful and keep up thw work guys!!👍
