Script Reviews - An Open Discussion

Then there has to be something the user would change about it either way if it's under four stars. And don't talk about new features, because they knew fully what they were getting when they bought the script.
You're failing to understand my point. I'm saying that 5 stars should only really be used for situations like "Holly shit, this is an amazing script and blew my expectations away". Yet 4 stars should be used for "Ye, the script does everything it says, but it's nothing special". If we apply your script criteria, then if the script does everything that it lists, and the support was good enough, then you can really only give it 5 stars. But that seems a little stupid...
what about text only reviews

I'm sure the reason for the script being "nothing special" would be good to know.

Are you for real? I feel like you're just trying to trigger me here. There doesn't need to be a reason for something to be "nothing special". If anything, that's the reason it's nothing special. there's nothing that's amazing about it, yet there's nothing that makes it bad.
We can use the example of a money printer. Say that someone purchases my money printers, and they submit a ticket with a config error, I help them with their error ect. They then use it on their server and think "Hmm, this isn't as good as some other printers I've seen". Then they leave a review of 4 stars. Personally, that's fine with me.
And sure, I bet you could argue that if they put "Not as good as other printers" in their review comment then that's a "reason". But hands down you'd get that review removed for some reason like "Hur dur, comparing it to other addons even tho it does everything it says it does"

Yes, I would get a review like that removed. They had a choice of any printer on the market, yet they chose to go with yours for a reason. They can't complain that another is better past that point.
It's just a number...like age ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A review is someone's opinion and experience, if their opinion is formed comparing it to another experience with another printer, then they should fully be able to justify a 4-star review with that.
I'm sorry, but you're starting to legit trigger me. I'm done debating with you. Personally, I think your outlook on reviews is stupid.

The end user can fully compare two products before even buying them through media, comments, and existing reviews. Your argument is invalid as you have all the information you need to make an informed decision on which script you want to buy right at your fingertips. That's like saying "This processor is not much of an upgrade at all over the last version" when you bought a refresh of a CPU, fully knowing from other peoples' experiences that what you described is exactly what you would be getting, yet you still decided to upgrade for minimal benefit.
tbh, if you release a video, they should not need to buy the addon to know how it's going to be

and a cell is just a room :v
How about moving away from star ratings to more modern like/dislike system (ex. Steam, Youtube etc.). It's easier for customer to say if he likes it or not then to put out specific amount of stars.
~~we don't care if he likes it,~~ the question is "Did you get what you paid for"
##AND NOTHING ELSE

But that's not really the soul purpose of a review. It's also to explain your experience and your opinion on the script.
Edited Rereading that, you might have been being sarcastic. If you were, that went right over my head...
Im not sure if its been said before but my opinion is that reviews should be open, but there should be cases where if its the users fault, and not the developers then a bad review should not be warranted. For example, people often leave 1 star reviews on scripts and say "This will be changed when I get support" instantly, moments after opening the ticket giving the developer no chance to respond. Also, when people leave a bad review thats empty then its kinda confusing for the dev and other customers as to why they had a bad experience. Reviews should be as open as possible for people to leave there honest feedback on the script, but as I said I think its fair where there is cases it can be removed.
it was not sarcasm
you can't buy a banana and then complain it doesn't taste like a bigmac
So far I see there's general agreement over removing any unfair reviews that hold stars at "gunpoint" - meaning they'll give them to you if you do a feature for them, or "answer your ticket".
Now that raises the question - what's a good amount of time to let pass before a "lack of support" review is fair? Because even if a user does not offer support normally (which is a whole other discussion I'll have at some time) if a script doesn't work then the user needs to answer their tickets. And if they're just letting it sit for two, three, four, etc. weeks then obviously there's a problem.
IMO, any script with a DRM need to have a response time < 72h
talking in weeks has to be a joke. i understand someone can go on vacation for like two weeks, then disable ur script and put a message on your profile, but you can't have a 1w response time the whole year

How many scripts still have DRM now anyway? With Nordahl gone I'm certain the marketplace has lost at least half of it's scripts with DRM.
Another thing to keep in mind is that people do have a lot going on in their life, and it also may just be a bad time for them. It's not as if they're paid a salary/hourly wage to do support, it's something that is given on top of the script sale.
Now if a script is broken then obviously a quicker response time is preferred, but to expect everyone to give constant quick support is a bit optimistic considering this is a side gig for most.
Happy to see you guys are considering community feedback. Keep it up Nook

I usually close tickets after 72 hours of inactivity from the customer.

I think this system is pretty good ! :) 4/5 stars is a good review & 5/5 stars is a perfect script ;)
