ScriptFodder Sellers and VAT
ByÐĪÂßĿØ$at 20th of July 2016 21:30:31
Oh ok, thanks mate! I hope real big developers will have benefits too and more developers will try to come without saying "this is too expansive" :-D
We'll most likely be paying 2-3 times more for dev subs than we did previously.. but it goes to fund servers and staff pays, so I'm totally okay with that solution... my way of giving back to the community for taking me in so openly - keeping servers up and devs happy to improve site is the least I can do.

Yeah, I agree. People will shout in all cases, but they will adapt themselves. This system allows a new system of payment, which is discutable because developers as me have just benefits, but developer as you, freemmaann or people like that will win less in the end if I understand, because of VAT and Scriptfodder taxes can be heavy for people who selling a lot. I hope everything will be alright. Thanks for this service, the next thing to improve is that Scriptfodder stop give too much importance for the design and not for the code ; I think lot of people will stop try put addons for sold, if the design isn't good the community will say this and people will not have purchase. But prohibit an addon for sale due to a moderator on several who refuses, I think this is not a good idea to allow many people to launch themselves. Anyway, this is not the subject so sorry because I lost myself.
ANYWAY, thanks Scriptfodder, and please all people accept this, we don't have the choice. In all cases, we can't change government laws.. So breathe and agree..
VAT shouldn't really affect the larger sellers, it's not taken away from sellers, it's added as a tax to buyer's purchases. It's a very good service for our big sellers like freemmaann to have their buyer's VAT handled per country for them.
VAT
I'm not really worried about the entire VAT situation because Marcuz and Matt have made it very clear how the process will work itself out. VAT is more of a legality rather than a "want", it can't just NOT happen. If you are in the EU and you are already paying VAT for each of your sales, that can be something that can be sorted out. I can guarantee you that you won't be ripped of in any of that process.
Commission Based Dev. Payments?
What I am confused on is the commission based payment that was mentioned. I saw a few different things like larger developers get a lower commission than smaller ones. For the developers it would make more sense to have a monthly adjusted commission rate so the ScriptFodder support team are at least guaranteed a certain amount of money each month from EVERY developer and not taking too much from larger developers.
If you think about it taking 15% from daveloper who's making $50 one month vs a developer who's making $300 one month is a huge difference. So as I said, adjusted commission rates would be fair and could depend on a developers projected sales from the previous month. I'm not saying larger developers shouldn't be giving a bit more than smaller ones. I don't mind supporting ScriptFodder with a bit more.
I'd just hate to see ScriptFodder turn into a tax'd economy where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer or vice versa and everyone just peaces out. It doesn't seem fair to me.
Everyone from europe hate vat! So for example im from holland and if i buy something on g2a i live in the vs. Its not going to work XD.

They are adjusted perfectly. 10% for lower sellers 5% for higher sellers
10% out of 50$ (for example) is 5$ 5% out of 500$ (for example) is 25$
I don't see this being 'rich getting richer'.

I must've skipped over those percentages. But yeah, that makes the most sense. Adjusted for the difference of earnings. I was under the impression that they would take the same base commission rate from smaller and larger developers. Thanks for letting me know.
Maybe I'm missing something, but if the percent that SF takes from sellers is a handling fee then why is it a percentage? It isn't any harder to process a $1 sale than it is to process a $100 sale, is it?
Why not have a fixed, per-sale, handling fee?

The Paypal fee is split across all receivers, and taking $1 off a $1 addon would leave the creator with $0. It needs to be a percentage. There's no other way.
Here's how it'll work, let's say an addon costs $5:
- VAT is added onto the $5 based on the buyer's location. If the country has 20% VAT, that would make the price $6
- SF takes 5%-10% of the original $5
- SF also takes the $1 VAT, so we can pay this to the local government of the buyer for you. We are required to do this.
I like the idea, it will basically stop the possibility of charge-backs completely :,D

Unfortunately it will not, the primary payment still goes to the sellers PayPal account(This is because of a PayPal API limitation, and we still want the seller's account to be the primary receiver, not us). Sellers are able to refund our part of the split if a chargeback/dispute does happen though(Even if it doesn't happen, they can refund the whole payment with the click of a button).
Yeah fu**ing great. I'm happy that I did shopping a week ago. And rest of my money had for some beer. But that means I can right now go to my pc and search up all old projects and refresh them. And maybe VAT will be good for short time I think that developers should have choice between subscription and VAT payment.

Ohh, that's a shame; I have a question though, will old devs who never payed a subscription again be able to start selling again at no cost? Because if that's the case, the market will be flooded with old scripts :/

Anyone who isn't a dev now won't be moved into the dev user group, inactive devs won't get their dev back without reactivating it manually. They will be able to sell if they reactivate their developer group in their dashboard.

Please read everything, this is required by law, we can't give a choice.
Why is everyone complaining, a 5-10% margin for the advertising, payment processing, centralized support, automatic distribution, etc is pretty good. $15 a month is nothing; the exchange really should be percentage based.
You should only be in the Developer usergroup if you have a script up that is selling. That way you can control the flow of people viewing The Creative Corner.
When will the margins be released for devs who are curious as to what percentage they'd be paying based off their monthly sales?
Honestly, i still think it's a terrible idea to allow anyone to have the "dev" grade, right now it required you to pay money, but leaker will now be able to see what we post without even paying 1€.

That's why I posted above
Hello ! I personally find that VAT is the shit (I know I said I 'm french ...)! But you are good ideas . Everyone can offer scripts without having to pay $ 15 ... But, I have a question which I think is very important, and few people can say otherwise ... My question is: The scripts that are more in line Because of the non-payment of the subscription ... You will reactivate ? If so , check that the devs have still want ... They always have their Steam and Paypal accounts linked ..... If not, it would be completely silly ... Or , give their a possibility of reactivating the ... SF could spend 650+ has more than 1,000 scripts by reactivating ALL ... : O Cordially. Yepco .
P.S : Sorry for the mistakes ... Translated with Google Translate .
