Securemod Awareness

The problem hasn't been resolved yet, Lapin, that's what this thread about.Since Meepen agreeded on collaboration:the resolve could be achieved by changing current GMS policies. Which requires the involvement of GMS head stuff.
idk if the head stuff will get involved
there is nothing to do about it, most of us are already stating in the addon description we're using securegmod, we didn't fuckup only velkon did, there is nothing to do about it; if you're salty leave a negative review on his addon
get over it and grow a thicker skin

one possible solution if the script maker doesn't renew his subscription to securegmod is for securegmod to ALWAYS succeed in authentication rather than fail.the addon will keep working after the dev is fallen from the face of the earth.
Then why pay for a drm if it's always gonna be active :V

I really don't understand why you are continuing to get so upset, if as you are saying there isn't a problem then nothing will probably change. But again, none of what we are talking about applies to you. You advertise your DRM, you have documentation I'm assuming, and I'm assuming if you were ever to move on you would maybe release a DRM-Free version. You are a good example of a good functioning use of DRM. Our only goal here is to make it so that EVERYONE has to abide by those same guidelines. Because as of right now that IS NOT THE CASE. There is NOTHING preventing a seller from fucking over their customers. If you as a seller have seller security I as a buyer should have some as well. But on the subject of deleting this thread; sometimes people in life are going to disagree with you. You can't just shut down a thread because they do. Stop putting down peoples opinion on the subject. Calling the op a salty frustrated kiddo doesn't solve anything. Write your opinion down, make it noted as a content creator and let YOUR BUYERS WHOM PAY YOU have the option to have their own. It's everyone's right. This thread shouldn't be closed just because you disagree with OP.

That's a succinct, well-put way of saying it. We at Exasource do use DRM for our products, but as seen with Rubidium we try to make sure that data is exportable so that our users can find an alternate solution if need be. User-developer communication should always be forefront and a lot of this could have been avoided if all content creators held themself to the same regard, but this is an ideal proposition. I agree with the idea of having a 'source' version of the product uploaded to Gmodstore in order to ensure that if a creator is irresponsible, or extenuating circumstances occur (sometimes it's simply not feasible to continue paying for DRM, and there should be possible alternate monetization strategies to counter this), but regardless, there is a way to release another version.
Ultimately what I envision being the best is for users to have a product not reliant on any central service to operate, because as we've seen in the past, it has spelled chaos when it has (although I'm not suggesting Meepen will be irresponsible like Phoenix).
This is an important issue as well and I agree that this thread shouldn't be closed. There have been really good propositions over the thread's development and I'd like to see more.

right now i understand that securegmod will always block addons if the developer's subscription is expired. my idea is that it will only block unauthorized usage of addons if the developer has an active subscription.
